Rangers and Argyle will be hoping for better things in 2024/25 after seasons of struggle.
Rangers only spared themselves from a relegation scrap when boss Marti Cifuentes masterminded a late dash for safety. They eventually finished a disappointing 18th.
Plymouth's survival was only ensured on the final day courtesy of a 1-0 win over Hull.
Former England captain Wayne Rooney has overseen a 4-0 loss at Sheffield Wednesday and a 1-1 draw with Hull so far, while Rangers were humbled 3-1 at home by West Brom in their season opener before fighting back from two down to draw 2-2 at Sheffield United.
Both games between these teams ended in draws last season and there is a good chance there won't be much between them again at the weekend.
Koki Saito looks quite the find for QPR and with playmaker Lucas Andersen injured at Bramall Lane and Ilias Chair still out with a back problem, the Japanese star is set for a start against Plymouth.
Saito, on loan from Belgian side Lommel, has taken time to adapt to his new home after spending a swathe of the summer at the Olympics.
He came off the bench at Sheffield United for his debut with his side 2-1 down and set up Lyndon Dykes for the equaliser. He also troubled the Blades' defenders with his one-on-one running and pinged off a shot as well.
Saito has the makings of being a top acquisition and the former Sparta Rotterdam forward looks a decent price at 11/2 to land first scorer honours.
Don't back off going big on a corners bet with the potential for the total to go through the roof.
So far, total corners have been made up at 15 and 13 in the Hoops' two matches, with the London side piling up 12 of their own at home to West Brom and nine more at Sheffield United.
Cifuentes wants his side to be positive and given how poorly they are defending it's understandable that he feels they need to create chances if they are to get anything from games.
Plymouth will doubtless try to be cagier though they still managed to chalk up six corners in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Hull.
A week earlier at Hillsborough they conceded a staggering 15 corners against Sheffield Wednesday so there is scope, in a fixture between two adventurous but error-strewn sides, for the corner count to soar, with over 12 match corners catching my eye at 7/5.
