League Winner Tips
Premier League Winners - Chelsea
With Manchester City being priced odds-on at 8/11 to win the league before a ball was kicked this season, plenty of pundits put up Chelsea as their pick to lift the trophy this campaign. The Blues had been 5/1 a few weeks ago but after two wins and a point at Anfield with ten men, Thomas Tuchel’s side are now into 11/4 to claim their first title since 2016-2017 under Antonio Conte.
Last season’s Champions League winners have firmly asserted themselves as title contenders this time around and when you look at their squad, it’s easy to see why when you consider that their players are now worth over a combined €900m.
Since arriving at the club, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has made 26 appearances for Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel and has kept a remarkable 16 clean sheets in that period. Mendy’s record of just 15 goals conceded in 26 games under the German is one that can’t be ignored and the protection in front of their defence with Jorginho and Kante is arguably the best in world football.
It’s also worth remembering that Thomas Tuchel beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City three times in just six weeks at the back end of last season. The Champions League final defeat was the one that hurt most for the Cityzens and there’s no denying it will be in their minds when facing Tuchel’s men this campaign.
Championship Winners - Fulham
Fulham have made a solid start to life back in the Championship after being relegated from the Premier League last season. The Cottagers have now either been relegated or involved in a play-off every season since 2015-2016, and after the departure of Scott Parker, Marco Silva is now the man tasked with taking them back to the promised land.
No other side in the division has a squad worth as much as Fulham, which according to Transfermarkt.co.uk sits at around £133m. Tom Cairney, Bobby Reid, and Harrison Reed are all established players for this level and have enough quality to see them return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
It’s in attack though where Fulham really look strong. The signing of Harry Wilson for £12m looks to be an excellent bit of business with the former Liverpool attacker already having provided two goals and an assist in his first three matches. Add to that the striking power of Aleksander Mitrovic and you have one of the best squads the Championship has seen in recent years.
Mitrovic has got off to a flyer this season, netting four goals in his first five league appearances in 2021/22. The Serbian has also been in excellent form for his country and is the current top goalscorer in the World Cup Qualifying with seven goals in just four appearances. Fulham have collected 13 points so far and sit top of the table after five matches, with 13 goals scored and just three conceded it’s hard to believe this team will not be right up there come May.
League One Winners - Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday have been blighted by financial instability over recent years and if it were not for a points deduction last season, they would have remained in the Championship. As to be expected there was somewhat of an exodus at the club over the summer due to their relegation.
The signings of Lewis Wing and Olomde Shodipo will please the Hillsborough faithful, while the addition of Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell is a major coup for this level. The Owls only conceded their first goal of their league campaign in what was their fifth match of the season against Morecambe.
Last weekend also saw Wednesday suffer their first defeat of the season and after five games; they have now collected 10 points. Darren Moore’s side currently find themselves fourth in the table and with four clean sheets in their first five they can challenge for the League One title this season.
League Two Winners - Forest Green Rovers
Forest Green Rovers have achieved a play-off finish in two of the last three seasons and look good to go one step further this season in League Two. The club fast-tracked talented coach Rob Edwards from the youth scene into senior football and the Rovers boss has an excellent young squad at his disposal.
In the final third Forest Green have the poaching instincts of Matty Stevens, who’s already helped himself to five goals from his first six appearances this term. Forward Jamille Matt has bagged himself three goals already this season and with attacking left-wing-back Nicky Cadden also finding the net three times, FGR should have plenty of goals in them this season.
The Green Army are second in the table after six games and despite a bit of a wobble with a draw and a defeat in their last two games, we still believe they can be crowned League Two winners this season.
When combining all four of the above selections the 4-fold pays around 663/1 with bet365. Remember you have until the 9th September to claim the ‘League Winner Early Payout Offer’.
Please always gamble responsibly.
