It’s been another fantastic couple of days of Premier League football, with one game remaining on Monday evening as Wolves host Everton in the Black Country. Saturday produced several coupon-busters with Manchester City losing at home to Crystal Palace and Liverpool dropping points at home to Brighton. Here at BettingOdds.com we’ve taken a look back at some of the data and most impressive stats in our Premier League weekend in numbers series.
3 - Declan Rice scored his third goal of the season in all competitions against Aston Villa on Sunday with a lovely finish from outside the box. Rice only managed two goals in the whole of last season and is clearly upping his output in the final third this campaign. The England international registered two shots on target against Villa and after being priced at 7/2 for 1+ shot on target with Betfair yesterday, he’s one to keep an eye on.
50 - Crystal Palace enjoyed a memorable win at the Etihad on Saturday afternoon priced at 18/1 pre-match, turning over Manchester City 2-0 thanks to goals from Wilfried Zaha and Conor Gallagher. Zaha’s goal was his 50th for Palace in the Premier League, making him the first player for the club to reach this milestone.
7 - Chelsea steamrollered Newcastle 3-0 at St James’ Park this weekend thanks to a brace from Reece James and a penalty from Jorginho. James now has the most goal involvements (4 goals 3 assists) for Chelsea this season in all competitions, while one of Chelsea’s full-backs have scored in each of their last four league matches; 46% of the Blues’ league goals this season have come courtesy of a defender.
36 - Cristiano Ronaldo was on the scoresheet for Manchester United in their 3-0 away win at Tottenham on Saturday. Ronaldo also turned provider for Edinson Cavani’s goal, making him the oldest player to both score and assist a goal in the Premier League since Didier Drogba in 2014 who, astonishingly, was also 36y and 267d on that day as well.
50% - Off the back of Tottenham’s damning defeat to Manchester United, Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo was relieved of his duties on Monday morning. The 47-year-old is the only Spurs manager (excluding caretakers) to lose as many as half of his Premier League games in charge, losing five of his ten.
5 - Joao Cancelo was another player who proved profitable to follow in the shots markets this weekend. The Manchester City full-back let off an impressive five shots in the defeat against Crystal Palace with one of those hitting the target.
2 - Norwich City suffered yet another defeat on Sunday as they were beaten 2-1 at Carrow Road by Leeds United. The Canaries are winless this season and if you look back to their last Premier League campaign, they have now taken just 2 points from their last possible 60.
6 - Liverpool had been priced at 1/4 to see off Brighton at Anfield on Saturday, however, goals from Leandro Trossard and Enock Mwepu rescued a point for the visitors in a 2-2 draw. Mohamed Salah provided the assist for Jordan Henderson’s opening goal of the game, which now takes the Egyptian to six assists for the season. Only Paul Pogba has provided more in the Premier League, and after landing one against Manchester United eight days ago at 9/2 with Betfair - before landing another at 11/4 last weekend against Brighton - he’s one to keep on-side in the anytime assist markets while he is in this rich vein of form.
