Premier League Sack Race Odds: Where each manager stands ahead of the restart

TheSackRace looks at the state of play in the Next Premier League Manager To Leave market ahead of the top-flight's imminent return, featuring bookies' favourite Frank Lampard and a vulnerable-looking Graham Potter...
In the blink of an eye the Premier League bursts back on Boxing Day, just over a week after the curtains were drawn on World Cup 2022.
If you’re in need of a quick managerial refresh, then you’ve come to the right place:
- Nathan Jones is now in charge of Southampton
- Julen Lopetegui is at the helm of Wolves
- Aston Villa are led by Unai Emery
Emery has already had a few games under his belt at Villa, Jones has overseen a league defeat and cup win, while Lopetegui got off to a winning start in the cup.
Elsewhere, Gary O’Neil has been handed the full-time job at Bournemouth after 13 games as caretaker, while earlier in the campaign Graham Potter switched Brighton for Chelsea, with Roberto De Zerbi taking charge of the former.
Unfortunately, for both new appointments and established names the Premier League Sack Race never sleeps, so without further ado, we take a look at what the odds are saying ahead of the restart.
Frank Lampard favourite to leave next
It proved to be a disastrous end to the first section of the season for Frank Lampard's Everton, suffering three stinging defeats during the week preceding the World Cup.
In fact, Everton's poor form stretches back further than that. They've carved out only one win from their last eight matches in all competitions, six of which they’ve lost.
A meagre return of four points from their last 21 available means Lampard's troops are dangling one point and one place above the relegation zone in 17th as they prepare for another second-half-of-the-season spent battling the dreaded drop.
Lampard needs results fast as Wolves, led by new boss Lepetegui, Man City and Brighton all lie in wait after the restart, followed by a tricky trip to Man Utd in the FA Cup.
Lampard, the 8/15 favourite in the Sack Race market, remains a popular figure for now, but if he fails to address Everton’s wobbly form and lack of goals then he could become the latest in a long list of managerial casualties at Goodison Park.
Graham Potter looking increasingly vulnerable
Despite the extremely harsh sacking of Thomas Tuchel, it was pleasing to see Chelsea give Graham Potter a top job he richly deserved.
The former Brighton boss didn't experience a defeat until his tenth match, an unbeaten streak which saw him complete the double over Italian champions AC Milan to propel the Blues into the Champions League knockout stages where they'll face Borussia Dortmund.
But will Potter still be in charge when the first-leg takes place in mid-February?
Chelsea endured a nightmare before the break, losing four of five matches, including the last three in a row. A 4-1 spanking at the hands of Potter's former employers was a difficult pill to swallow, the Blues are out of the Carabao Cup, and defeats to nil Arsenal and Newcastle saw them sink down to 8th in the table.
Potter, now 9/1 in the Sack Race (Paddy Power), knows that he needs to hit the ground running against Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest ahead of a double league-and-cup-header against Man City, with Liverpool at Anfield on the horizon.
Keep an eye on David Moyes, Jesse Marsch and Antonio Conte
Sandwiched in between Lampard and Potter in the betting is David Moyes at 7/2 with Paddy Power.
Since returning for a second spell, Moyes has saved West Ham from the drop, finished 6th and 7th, and inspired a memorable journey to the Europa League semi-finals.
West Ham's fine continental form has continued into the current campaign; winning all six Europa Conference League group games.
Yet he's come under scrutiny following a £170m summer splurge which leaves the Hammers one point above the relegation zone with a joint-high nine defeats.
Moyes' men lost four of their five league games before the break left Moyes skating on thin ice and he's even been given the dreaded vote of confidence from co-owner David Sullivan, who said: “We one hundred per cent support the manager".
Sacking Moyes anytime soon would be extremely harsh, he definitely has enough credit in the bank but fans will demand an upturn in performances.
Jesse Marsch's name never appears to be too far off the top of the next Premier League manager to leave odds.
Currently 12/1 to leave next, Marsch has overseen two wins from his last 12 league and cup games.
He must have feared for his future following an eight game winless run, but then suddenly conjured up a stunning win at Liverpool followed by a 4-3 triumph against Bournemouth, although consecutive defeats before the break soured that brief resurrection.
Marsch must now find a formula ahead of two of the toughest Premier League matches right now: Man City and Newcastle.
As for Antonio Conte, his future at Spurs always seems to be a major talking point, especially with Mauricio Pochettino still in the Job Centre.
The Italian has yet to pen a new deal which is reportedly on the table, with his current contract expiring in the summer: At 16/1 across the board, he's on the periphery to be the next boss to exit.
Alternatively, William Hill offer odds of 100/1 for no manager to leave between now and the end of the season.
