Premier League Sack Race 2025/26 Odds: The Favourites
We've run through the top contenders in the betting - plus the dark horses - according to the early odds.
Graham Potter (West Ham): 5/2
Graham Potter was handed odds of 16/1 when the odds were first released, a price that has been sliced down to just 5/2 following West Ham's disappointing 3-0 defeat to newly promoted Sunderland
It's fair to say that Potter hasn’t yet made the impact many hoped for. His predecessor, Julen Lopetegui, lasted just 22 games - the shortest managerial reign in the club’s history - and Potter’s own 18-month contract suggests the board are keeping expectations measured.
If Potter's project is to gain long-term traction, he will need to give fans something to believe in, such as a clear identity, tangible progress, and results that spark real excitement - none of which have been evident so far.
Keith Andrews (Brentford): 11/4
Keith Andrews is something of an enigma. Until this past weekend, he was the only manager on this list who hadn’t yet taken charge of a competitive match.
His challenge is already a tough one, further hindered by the departures of key players like Bryan Mbeumo, captain Christian Norgaard, and keeper Mark Flekken. On top of that, the rumoured move of Yoane Wissa to Newcastle is another thorn in the side. This was all evident in Brentford’s shaky 3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend, which prompted bookmakers to shorten his odds to 11/4.
Yet Brentford clearly see potential in Andrews. He already has strong relationships within the squad, and it’s worth remembering that the club struck gold the last time they promoted from within, with Thomas Frank himself.
Scott Parker (Burnley): 8/1
Scott Parker, 8/1, was the unfortunate 'winner' of the Premier League Sack Race in 2022/23, when he was shown the door by Bournemouth after a humiliating 9-0 defeat at Anfield.
A brief and unsuccessful stint at Club Brugge followed, but Parker has since rebuilt his reputation at Burnley, leading them to a third Premier League promotion of his managerial career.
Burnley were outstanding defensively last season, conceding just 16 goals in 46 games en route to a second-place finish. That same resilience will be vital if they’re to avoid a repeat of their 2023/24 top-flight struggles, however, a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday suggests a long season is ahead of them.
Nuno Santo (Nottingham Forest): 8/1
Arne Slot may have lifted the title, but many neutrals would argue that Nuno Espírito Santo was the standout manager of the 2024/25 Premier League season. Defying expectations, he kept Nottingham Forest in the hunt for a Champions League spot for much of the campaign before ultimately securing 7th place and a return to European competition for the first time this century.
While the Europa League will bring fresh excitement to the City Ground, it also presents new challenges, particularly the demands of a busier fixture schedule.
As for Nuno, he's just penned a new three-year contract, and then proceeded to open the season with a 3-1 win over Brentford, making a mockery of his early 8/1 odds.
Dark Horses To Keep An Eye On
As for potential outsiders in the betting, here are a couple of others managers to keep an eye on.
Ruben Amorim (Man Utd): 10/1
Initially touted as the man to revitalise the club, Ruben Amorim's debut campaign fell far short of expectations - managing just seven wins from 27 Premier League matches, with 14 defeats, as United slumped to 15th, their worst finish since 1974/75.
Having been the first top-flight club to sack a manager last season - parting ways with Erik ten Hag in October - United could be quick to act again if results don't improve in the early stages of the new season.
Despite a much-improved performance against Arsenal, Man United came away empty handed, with Amorim currently available at 10/1.
Enzo Maresca (Chelsea): 33/1
Chelsea’s 2024/25 campaign looked to be unravelling before a strong finish saw them secure Champions League football and lift the Conference League trophy. They've since gone on to claim a stunning triumph in the Club World Cup, with manager Enzo Maresca conjuring up a managerial masterclass over PSG's Luis Enrique.
As a result, Chelsea were brimming with confidence heading into the new season, only to then put in a flat showing in an underwhelming goalless draw against Crystal Palace.
History shows that stability is rarely a luxury at Stamford Bridge. With Chelsea’s notoriously short managerial leash, Maresca at a hefty 33/1 could tempt those who are expecting potential turbulence at the start of the new campaign following a long summer.
