Premier League Predictions 2023/24: Gameweek 9 Picks

Club football returns this weekend, with five televised Premier League matches hitting our screens across Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
As ever our in-house writers have provided you with their predictions for this next round of PL fixtures, including the Merseyside derby and North West London derby.
Premier League Gameweek 9 Predictions
Liverpool vs Everton
- Saturday 21st October, 12:30pm, TNT Sports 1
Liverpool will go top of the Premier League if they can beat Merseyside rivals Everton in Saturday's early kick-off, and the Reds should have more than enough to down a Toffees side who have struggled at Anfield for several years now.
Jurgen Klopp's side have won six of the last seven meetings at Anfield and while they have only picked up one point from their last two matches in the league and Everton have won two of their last games in the top-flight, it's home advantage that should see Liverpool cruise to victory.
Steve Chambers' Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Everton
Chelsea vs Arsenal
- Saturday 21st October, 5:30pm, Sky Sports Main Event
A revitalised Chelsea take on an in-form Arsenal who are flying off the back of their win over Man City, in what promises to be a cracking capital clash.
The Blues look to be at last finding their feet under Mauricio Pochettino with three straight wins in all competitions, however, I think they will come unstuck against this extremely talented - and so far unbeaten - Arsenal side who have won six of their eight games to date, and can go top of the league with a win.
Jack Kitson's Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 Arsenal
Sheffield United vs Manchester United
- Saturday 21st October, 8pm, Sky Sports Premier League
Winless Sheffield United sit at the foot of the Premier League table, but may feel buoyed by the visit of fellow strugglers Man Utd whose stoppage-time antics helped them avoid a three-game losing streak.
United should have enough to see off their hosts, but having kept only two clean sheets from eight attempts in the league, we're backing both teams to score alongside an away win.
Luke Hamilton's Prediction: Sheffield United 1-2 Manchester United
Aston Villa vs West Ham
- Sunday 22nd October, 4:30pm, Sky Sports Main Event
Both Aston Villa and West Ham have made a strong start to the season, but the form shown in front of their own fans over the last calendar year is enough to believe that the hosts can collect three points. Unai Emery’s side have won 10 consecutive Premier League matches at Villa Park and can get the better of The Hammers on Sunday.
Anthony Eadson's Prediction: Aston Villa 2-0 West Ham
Tottenham vs Fulham
- Monday 23rd October, 8pm, Sky Sports Main Event
It has been a contrasting start to the Premier League season for the two London sides that play in white, with a Harry Kane-less Spurs impressing under new gaffer Ange Postecoglou, while Fulham have struggled to hit their straps as they did in 2022/23 when starting fast to allay any relegation worries.
The careless abandon with which Spurs play under their new Aussie oracle means BTTS is often a good bet in their games, but with Son and Maddison in sparkling form I can't see Fulham matching them and will go with an entertaining home win.
Billy Grimshaw's Prediction: Tottenham 3-1 Fulham
