After a busy slate of midweek Premier League action on Amazon Prime Video, normality resumes this weekend in the English top flight, with four more televised matches to sink your teeth into. As always our dedicated in-house writing teams have previewed each contest and given you a prediction for their outcome.
Premier League Gameweek 16 Predictions
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool
- Saturday 9th December, 12:30pm, TNT Sports 1
Roy Hodgson heads into this duel with his former employers feeling the heat following a return of one point from his last four games, while Palace have only recorded one win in eight (against Burnley). Palace have gone five games without a win at home, losing the last three.
Liverpool have only won one of their last four on the road but did carve out a draw at the Etihad and beat Sheffield United 2-0 last time out. The Reds are firmly in the title picture and should be confident of piling more misery onto their former boss.
Jack Kitson's Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-3 Liverpool
Aston Villa vs Arsenal
- Saturday 9th December, 5:30pm, Sky Sports Main Event
Unai Emery’s side have been outstanding in front of their own fans this season and remain unbeaten, but with Arsenal having slightly more time to prepare for this one I don’t think they will be able to keep things as tight as they did against Manchester City.
Villa Park is once again expected to turn into a bear pit on Saturday and I think we could be in for another cracker. Arsenal are by no means water-tight at the back and another high-scoring contest could be on the cards, with the points being shared by two sides who could well finish in the top-four.
Anthony Eadson's Prediction: Aston Villa 2-2 Arsenal
Luton vs Manchester City
- Sunday 10th December, 2pm, Sky Sports Main Event
Will City drop points for a fifth consecutive game? After the midweek dismantling that Aston Villa handed Pep and co, leapfrogging them in the process, spirits will be at an all-time low for last season's treble winners. Luton put in a sprightly showing against Arsenal, with The Gunners only able to get over the line in injury time.
Rob Edwards' side haven't lost by more than one goal at Kenilworth Road since being promoted and will make the game extremely uncomfortable for the champions, who in their current ropey form, will just about get themselves through the ordeal.
Luke Hamilton's Prediction: Luton 1-2 Manchester City
Tottenham vs Newcastle
- Sunday 10th December, 4:30pm, Sky Sports Main Event
Tottenham host Newcastle in a game that should be an absolute thriller. I'm leaning towards siding with Tottenham here purely based on Newcastle's record away from home this season. We all know they've been impressive at St James' Park but away from home, they're leaving a lot to be desired.
They still only have one win on the road this season which was an 8-0 win over Sheffield United who are rock bottom of the league. Tottenham are slightly out of form but have still recorded solid wins at home, I think they can get the job done here.
Steven McQuillan's Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 Newcastle United
