Premier League Gameweek 5 Betting Tips: Four selections featuring Brighton and Everton
Following a congested international break, the Premier League and our next slate of best bets return for Gameweek 5 following two winners from four in our most recent outing.
Wolves vs Liverpool
- Saturday 16th September, 12:30pm, TNT Sports 1
After two consecutive yellow cards against Everton and Crystal Palace, we're backing Nelson Semedo to pick up a third straight booking.
Last term, only Ruben Neves accrued more cautions (12) than Semedo's 11 from 36 appearances - one of which came against Liverpool.
He's committed two or more fouls in three out of four Premier League matches this season, and will be facing arguably his toughest test yet against Liverpool's electric forward Luis Diaz, who has drawn five fouls so far.
Best Bet: Nelson Semedo To Be Carded - 16/5 @ Betfair
Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace
- Saturday 16th September, 3pm
Barring that reshuffle at Anfield last time out, being deployed with less defensive responsibility is giving Matty Cash more creative expression further up the field for Aston Villa.
The change has paid dividends in terms of output and attacking returns, with the Polish international netting three times in the two matches prior to the Liverpool trip, and striking nine shots in four games - a tally only Ollie Watkins has bettered in claret and blue this campaign.
Given how he's met this line in half of the opening four fixtures and faces a Palace side who have conceded 12, 17, 12, 14 and 8 shots from their first five 2023/24 outings, there's plenty of appeal to get Matty Cash onside for two shots.
Best Bet: Matty Cash 2+ Shots - 29/10 @ BetVictor
Man Utd vs Brighton
- Saturday 16th September, 3pm
Seeing as how these two have started the season, expecting Brighton to get a result, even at Old Trafford, appears as though it's a bit of a no-brainer at this moment in time.
Despite a blip against a firing West Ham side, The Seagulls have resoundingly dispatched Luton, Wolves and most recently Newcastle. Man Utd, however, crawled over the line against Wolves and Nottingham Forest, and lost to North Londoners Tottenham and Arsenal either side of that latter win.
Erik ten Hag has yet to beat Brighton without the help of penalties - he lost 2-1 on opening day at Old Trafford last season to Graham Potter's side, subsequently drawing 0-0 at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final before finally losing 1-0 at the Amex in May. That gives The Seagulls a 75% win percentage over United since May 2022.
Using the "Draw No Bet" market, if the match ends without being able to separate the two teams, then punters get a little extra insurance and will have their stakes returned.
Best Bet: Brighton Draw No Bet - 7/5 @ SBK
Everton vs Arsenal
- Sunday 17th September, 4:30pm, Sky Sports Premier League
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Abdoulaye Doucoure did the business in Gameweek 4 for our last round of Premier League tips and is a slightly larger 2/1 to find his range against Arsenal.
Whether he's playing in a midfield three or being deployed as an attacking midfielder like last time out vs Sheffield United, Doucoure now takes to the field wearing his shooting boots. The 30-year-old let off four attempts at Bramall Lane - three of which found the target. That means he's been successful with this bet in 75% of Everton's Premier League games this season, with that horrendous 4-0 display against Aston Villa the only exception.
Paddy Power go just 11/8 for the same selection, giving quite a bit of additional value with Unibet.
Best Bet: Abdoulaye Doucoure 1+ Shots On Target - 47/20 @ Unibet
