Nottingham Forest have won only one of their last ten Premier League matches, and while the visit of Fulham looks a good opportunity to improve that poor run, their record against the Cottagers doesn’t inspire much confidence. The Tricky Trees were hammered 5-0 at Craven Cottage earlier this season and Fulham have won all of the previous three Premier League meetings between the sides by an aggregate 10-2 scoreline.
Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo remains without key forward Taiwo Awoniyi and the Nigerian is joined on the sidelines by Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares. On-loan striker Armando Broja was not named in Fulham’s matchday squad for last weekend’s draw with Sheffield United but Marco Silva has an otherwise fully-fit squad available to him.
Nottingham Forest vs Fulham Tips
Pressure is building on Nottingham Forest as they slip further into relegation danger. The four-point deduction they received in March clearly has not helped the Tricky Trees’ cause, but a run of one win in ten Premier League matches is a major concern.
We saw from his time at Wolves that, for all his tactical nous, Nuno rarely needs a second invitation to adopt a cautious approach and Forest have scored only two goals in their last five matches. It’s likely that Forest’s first thought will be to keep a clean sheet at the City Ground and that may well be achievable against a Fulham side who have scored only 17 goals in their 15 away league matches this term.
The Cottagers can play with more freedom as they are safely nestled in mid-table, but the Londoners could find Forest tough opposition to fell and backing under 1.5 goals in the East Midlands looks the best course of action.
There have been only seven goals scored in Nottingham Forest’s last five matches and even that doesn’t tell the full story of what has been a period lacking in goal-mouth action.
Manchester United required an 89th-minute winner from Casemiro to beat Forest 1-0 while Premier League leaders Liverpool scored a 99th-minute winner to down the Tricky Trees in a game that looked destined to finish without a goal.
Fulham cannot call on the same firepower as those two sides and with Forest likely to be content with a point in their battle against the drop, Tuesday’s contest could well finish goalless.
