What Thomas Tuchel and Emma Hayes said about their futures at Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel and Emma Hayes have commented on the future of Chelsea Football Club after the club’s owner, Roman Abramovich, was sanctioned by the UK government.
After the news broke, Tuchel’s odds were swiftly slashed from 50/1 to 4/1 in the next Premier League manager to leave market (10th), while he was also cut from 33/1 to 5/1 in the betting to become the next permanent manager of Man Utd, behind Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag.
The Telegraph’s Chief Football Correspondent Jason Burt reports that Man Utd and up to five other clubs are all interested in Tuchel, whose future is now up in the air.
However, Chelsea’s Champions League winning manager has vowed to fight on amidst the waves of uncertainty and chaos surrounding the club, his contract current runs to June 2024 after the extension clause was triggered last summer.
"As long as we have enough shirts and a bus to drive to the games, we'll be there and will compete hard," Tuchel told BBC Radio 5 Live.
"We take it day by day. I didn't see that coming yesterday and I don't know what is coming tomorrow."
He added: "It changes almost every day. I am still happy to be here and still happy to be manager of a strong team. I know there is a lot of noise around."
It will be interesting to see if Tuchel’s stance changes when - or if - the club is taken over by new owners.
Meanwhile, the serial-winner of Chelsea's women's team, Emma Hayes, said: "I don't battle with things I cannot control. I will probably learn more in the coming days and weeks.
"We're aware of what's going on, but there's a war going on in Ukraine, there are bigger situations.
"It's important for the players, the staff, the fans to be patient and let's sort through that and hopefully that process won't take too long."
Hayes is currently bidding to win the WSL for the third straight season - and fourth time in five years -although her side face a tough title battle against Jonas Eidevall’s Arsenal who are five points clear of the Blues, who have two games in hand.
