Next Nottingham Forest Manager Odds: The latest on Steve Cooper, Chris Wilder, and Steven Reid

A look at the latest goings-on in Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of a new manager after the Championship club sacked Chris Hughton last Thursday, featuring updates on Steven Reid, Steve Cooper, and Chris Wilder...
How did Steven Reid get on?
After Hughton was shown the exit door, caretaker Steven Reid stepped into the dugout over the weekend for Forest’s clash with Huddersfield, who had enjoyed an impressive start to the season under Carlos Corberan.
However, it was Reid who conjured up Forest’s first Championship win of the season after he oversaw a surprise 2-0 triumph in Yorkshire. It brought to an end the club’s dire 13-match winless run, although they remain bottom of the table after eight games.
“We enjoyed the moment, but we can't get away from the sad week it has been with losing Chris - a superb manager, the man who brought me to the club and a man I have so much respect for,” Reid said after the game.
“I've got no information at the moment,” he added when asked about the managerial situation. “I'm not sure if something is close to being done or whether it's going to take a little bit more time.”
Betting suspended on Steve Cooper
Over the weekend reports emerged that Nottingham Forest had agreed compensation with Swansea for their former manager Steve Cooper.
You may be wondering why on earth a compensation fee would have to be agreed for a manager who left the Swans in the summer, however he’s still technically under contract at the Welsh club to 2022. Sky Sports state that the fee is in the region of £1.2m.
Bookmakers’ William Hill and Bet Victor subsequently suspended betting on the next Nottingham Forest manager market, and at the time of writing Cooper can be found at 1/20 elsewhere.
Cooper led Swansea to consecutive play-off finishes and previously lifted the World Cup with England U17s.
What Chris Wilder said on the vacancy
Chris Wilder was briefly listed as the favourite for the post last week, however it now looks like it’s Cooper who is all set for the City Ground.
Former Sheffield United boss Wilder has since revealed that he would have been interested in the vacancy.
“You’ve got to respect the people in charge, what direction they want to take their clubs. I understand that.” Wilder told BBC Radio 5 Live. “We all know what a fabulous club Nottingham Forest is, whether you go there as a player, as a manager, or whether you go there to watch games.
“It very much reminds me of Sheffield United, but Sheffield United have not got the two stars on their badge.
“It’s a fabulous club and I would have been interested in talking to them. It looks like they’ve quickly made an appointment.”
