Next Crystal Palace Manager Odds: Roy Hodgson, Graham Potter and Paulo Fonseca linked
When Crystal Palace sacked Patrick Vieira in March they were without a win in 12 matches in 2023, a rotten run which left the club three points above the drop zone and plunged their Premier League future into doubt.
In came an extremely familiar face, Roy Hodgson, who made an instant impact upon his return to Selhurst Park; soaring the Eagles to five wins, three draws, and just the two defeats from their final 10 matches.
Palace finished the campaign 11 points above the drop zone in 11th, ahead of the likes of Chelsea, Wolves, and West Ham.
The Palace hierarchy now have a huge decision to make as they contemplate whether to hand veteran Hodgson a new deal, or alternatively look to bring in a new name.
We’ve taken a look at what the early odds are saying in the newly released next Crystal Palace manager odds…
Roy Hodgson remains the frontrunner at 8/11 (Paddy Power) to still be Crystal Palace manager come the first game of next season.
The Premier League's oldest ever gaffer - who turns 76 in August - did a very impressive job at the backend of last season, inspiring a return of 18 points from 10 games, which included a 5-1 demolition of Leeds and 4-3 victory over West Ham.
"I have no idea. My situation is very simple: I took on a job, I was pleased to take on the job", Hodgson told Match of the Day after the final game of the season.
"The mandate was a simple one, to come in and help the team to get the number of points we need to stay in the league. That's what I've done and what I've enjoyed doing."
Behind Hodgson, you'll find the out-of-work Graham Potter (4/1) who will surely be eyeing up a Premier League return this summer.
Potter, who is also being linked with relegated Leeds, will have to put his Brighton loyalties to one side should he be interested in taking charge of their M23 rivals.
You'd think it it came down to these two clubs, Potter will surely opt for Palace in the Premier League.
Paulo Fonseca then follows at 17/2, although it's a move that appears unlikely.
The Portuguese coach has been hotly linked with a move to Marseille, but looks to now be staying at current side Lille after the club's president, Olivier Létang, came out and said he will be Lille's manager next year.
Former Everton, Liverpool, and Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is next in the running at 10/1, followed by Palace coach Paddy McCarthy at 11s, and ex-Saint Ralph Hasenhuttl at 12s.
Should Palace look to the Championship for inspiration they could try and tempt Michael Carrick (14/1) from Middlesbrough.
Fresh off leading Al-Ittihad to the Saudi Pro League title, ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is 14/1 to return to these shores with Palace.
We now know that Brendan Rodgers is off the cards after he returned to Celtic, Andoni Iraola has been appointed at Bournemouth, while Standard Sport has reported that Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has been ruled out.
