Roberto De Zerbi
Roberto De Zerbi has emerged as the early favourite with bookmakers, with the Italian looking for a swift return to the dugout after managing his final Brighton game over the weekend.
De Zerbi led the Seagulls to an impressive 6th spot in 2022/23 and would go on to win a Europa League group featuring Ajax and Marseille. Injuries and a loss of form hindered the club throughout the second half of the 2023/24 season, resulting in an 11th place finish.
Both club and manager agreed that the time was right to mutually part ways, with Kieran McKenna now leading the way in the next Brighton manager odds, while De Zerbi is being linked with the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Man Utd.
De Zerbi's preference lies in a possession-oriented approach, as evidenced by his team's impressive passing statistics last season, with only Man City surpassing them in the Premier League. His ability to develop and nurture young, talented players makes him an enticing candidate to lead this youthful Chelsea squad, while the opportunity to compete for trophies will undoubtedly make this an appealing opportunity for the man himself.
Kieran McKenna
'Manager of the Moment' Kieran McKenna has achieved back-to-back promotion-winning seasons at Ipswich, propelling the club from League One to the Premier League.
An outstanding 2nd place finish in the Championship led to him winning the coveted LMA Manager of the Year award on Tuesday night and it now appears that The Tractor Boys will face a fight to keep hold of their in-demand boss.
Not only is McKenna the frontrunner for the Brighton job, but he's a candidate in the betting to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd, and now a leading contender to manage Chelsea at 5/2.
Thomas Tuchel
Thomas Tuchel, who will leave Bayern Munich this summer after a disappointing trophyless campaign, is the highest-placed of the former Blues bosses - of which there are many - in the betting at 8/1.
Tuchel famously led Chelsea to Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup glory during a hugely successful 20-month spell, which also included runner-up finishes in both domestic cup finals.
Nevertheless, this proved insufficient for new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly who sacked Tuchel early in the 2022/23 season, subsequently appointing and dismissing Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, and now Mauricio Pochettino.
Tuchel's failure at Bayern Munich doesn't change the fact that he's a top coach, whose achievements far outstrip the other leading contenders for the Chelsea job, but while it would be a surprise if both parties could restore harmony, in the tumultuous realm of football management we simply can't dismiss the possibility of a second spell.
Ruben Amorim
At one stage it appeared that Ruben Amorim was all set for the Liverpool job. He was then briefly linked to West Ham. Now his name features in the upper echelon of the Chelsea manager market at 9/1.
For the moment. the Portuguese coach remains at Sporting CP, whom he's led to five trophies in four years, including the 2023/24 Primeira Liga title.
Amorim will inevitably manage in one of Europe's top-5 leagues in the near future, perhaps the Premier League this summer?
Hansi Flick
Former Germany manager Hansi Flick, who has been out-of-work for nearly a year, is undoubtedly eager to return to the dugout. There are rumours linking him to a potential second stint at Bayern Munich, where he previously had an incredibly successful two-year period, winning an impressive seven trophies while only losing six games.
Selected Others
I can't write about the Chelsea job without at least one mention of the legendary ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who is available at 17/1 to return for a third spell. Unlikely, but you never know.
Despite losing his status as a Premier League manager with relegated Burnley, Vincent Kompany is surprisingly the betting favourite for the Bayern Munich job, while he's 10/1 to take over at Stamford Bridge.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank (12/1) and Andoni Iraola (26/1) are two Premier League managers to keep an eye on. Stuttgart's Sebastian Hoeness (9/1) is attracting attention after a superb 2nd place finish in the Bundesliga, as is Girona boss Michel (25/1) whose side are guaranteed 3rd in La Liga.
