Newcastle vs. Manchester City Betting Tips: Two bet-builders as the clash of the riches takes place

Newcastle vs Man City Odds
Live on Sky Sports, Newcastle United host Champions Manchester City at St.James’ Park this Sunday at 4.30pm. This is a clash between two teams yet to concede a goal in their first two Premier League games.
Newcastle vs Man City Tips
Newcastle put in an impressive performance to beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in their league opener and then battled for a point away at Brighton. Morale will certainly be on the up and they will take confidence from their strong home record since February 2021 which has seen them win 8 of their last 9 games at St.James’ Park. However, that record will be put to a stern test as defending Champions Manchester City visit after winning both their opening league games against West Ham & Bournemouth without conceding a goal.
New signing Erling Haaland looks to have settled well having already scored twice and provided 1 assist and with Kevin De Bruyne playing some of the best football of his career, it will be extremely hard to Newcastle to cause an upset here. This is a fixture Manchester City won 4-0 last season and although it has the potential of being a tighter game this time around, Pep Guardiola’s men will still be heavy favourites to make it 3 consecutive league wins to stay top of the league.
A cracking Premier League battle awaits us and as usual, I have you covered with 2 of my best betting angles for this game included in the preview below:
Team News:
Jonjo Shelvey is out for Newcastle while Jamal Lewis, Matt Targett, Ryan Fraser, Emil Krafth & Federico Fernandez are doubtful for Newcastle.
Aymeric Laporte is out for Man City while Kalvin Phillips & Cole Palmer are doubtful. No other injuries/suspensions.
Newcastle possible starting lineup:
Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Almiron, Joelinton, Guimaraes, Willock, Saint-Maximin; Wilson
Man City possible starting lineup:
Ederson; Walker, Dias, Ake, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rodri, Gundogan; Mahrez, Haaland, Foden
Newcastle have been caught offside 6 times in their 2 league games so far. They were caught offside 4 times in both the head to head meetings against Manchester City last season losing 4-0 and 5-0. Manchester City will be expected to employ a high line and Newcastle will be looking to exploit that which should result in City catching Newcastle offside at least twice which is the first selection of our betbuilder.
City have beaten Newcastle in their last 6 consecutive head to head meetings and with an even stronger squad than last season, they should be leaving St.James’ Park with another 3 points. This betbuilder was a winner in both Premier League meetings between these two teams last season and I expect it to win again. I am happy to stake 1pt on this, taking it as our main bet for the game.
Note: 2nd selection is under “Winning Margin” on bet365 in the betbuilder section
Following on from our main bet, I am taking higher lines on both selections for our longshot. This 5/1 bet was also a winner in both meetings between these teams last season as Manchester City won 5-0 & 4-0 with 4 offsides in each game for Newcastle so it is definitely worth taking it again with a small 0.25pt stake.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
