Newcastle vs. Everton Betting Tips: Two tips as in-form Newcastle host The Toffees
The Premier League games continue to come thick and fast as we head towards the World Cup, with 18 teams in midweek action, all of them featuring live on Amazon Prime Sport.
Newcastle vs Everton Tips
Our focus for this preview turns to Wednesday’s 7:30pm game between sixth place Newcastle and 14th placed side Everton. A win for The Toon would take them above Man Utd into fifth place in the table, something which will no doubt be grabbing the attention of their super-rich new owners.
Eddie Howe’s men are one of only four sides to have lost just the once in the league so far this season, but turning draws into wins has been the main point of concern for the North-East side. Six draws from their opening 10 fixtures is two more than any other team in the division, and the hope will be that they can put in a performance similar to their last home game, where they thrashed Brentford 5-1.
For Frank Lampard and Everton, it’s been a slow burner, but the promising signs are definitely there. Despite his mistake against Spurs, Jordan Pickford has been the shining light of the Lampard era, and will no doubt be relishing a trip back up to his old rivals’ stomping ground.
Consistency has been the major problem for The Toffees, who come into this game after two defeats to Man Utd and Spurs. Prior to that, they’d won their previous two on the bounce, after drawing three of their opening five games. Lampard will be buoyed however by the return of Mason Holgate to the matchday squad, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be set to see more gametime upon his return from injury.
Starting off with our first bet for the game, we’re going with Newcastle to win and both teams to score. We’re using Bet365 for both of our picks here, but the 13/5 is also available with Betfair at the time of writing.
Two of Newcastle’s three wins this season have seen this line land, and they came in thumping style, as the Toon Army spanked 4 and 5 past Fulham and Brentford respectively, conceding once in each. With the crowd behind them, we’re expecting a strong attacking display from the home side, and the potential to take their foot off the gas in the second half could see an away goal.
Furthermore, half of Everton’s defeats in the league have seen them score, adding further potential for this bet to land.
As previously mentioned, Sunderland fan Jordan Pickford will be making a return to the North East, and he’s no stranger to all kinds of abuse at St. James’ Park. Pickford loves to get under the skin of opposing fans, using all the tactics in his arsenal to wind the clock down, and raise the anger levels.
Only Anthony Gordon (5) has been booked more times in the league this season for Everton than Pickford (3), who’s already surpassed his own record for most yellows in a season, previously reaching two on a number of occasions.
If the game remains tight, don’t be surprised to see Pickford winding up the home side and crowd alike, and having his name taken in the book.
Good luck if you’re following any of these bets, and please remember to gamble responsibly.
