Newcastle vs. Dortmund Betting Tips: Best bets including a 13/2 goalscorer pick
Newcastle United go up against Borussia Dortmund in this all important Champions League group stage clash this Wednesday at St. James’ Park stadium. Read below about our best bets including a 13/2 pick from the anytime scorer market.
The Magpies are in impressive form as they are now unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions and currently sit top of Group F after beating PSG and managing a 0-0 draw away from home against AC Milan.
As for Dortmund, they have won four of their last five games in all competitions but sit bottom of their Champions League group after losing 2-0 to PSG in the opener and then drawing 0-0 at home to AC Milan. They will be desperate for a result here to help their qualification chances and as a result we could be in for an entertaining clash.
This will be the first ever competitive meeting between these two sides and the hosts will take confidence from the fact that they have lost just once in their last 29 UEFA competition home fixtures. On the other hand, Dortmund have now lost their last six away games in a row to English opposition, conceding at least two goals on each occasion. Another blockbuster Champions League clash awaits us and I have included my two best bets in the preview below:
Team News:
Joe Willock and Harvey Barnes are out for Newcastle while Sven Botman is doubtful.
Mateu Morey, Moukoko and Duranville are out for Dortmund while Thomas Munier is doubtful.
Newcastle vs Dortmund Tips
- Match result will be Newcastle or Draw
- Over 0 goals for Newcastle
- Over 1 cards for Dortmund
- Alexander Isak - Over 0.5 shots
Newcastle have only lost once in their last 29 UEFA competition fixtures on their home turf. They have the second best home record in the Premier League so far this season and thrashed PSG 4-1 in their only home game in this competition so far this term.
Dortmund have lost their last six consecutive away games against English opposition conceding at least two goals in each of those.
We have a card-happy referee Artur Dias in charge of this game who is averaging close to six cards per game this season. Newcastle’s opposition have picked up a total of eight yellow cards in two Champions League games so far this season and Dortmund themselves have picked up six yellow cards in just two UCL fixtures.
Finally, Isak is averaging the most shots per game for Newcastle in the league (2.3) and is also their top scorer with six goals. Combining these four selections gives us a solid bet builder and I will be taking that as our main bet with a 1pt stake.
Sean Longstaff has been playing further forward in recent weeks getting into the opposition penalty box regularly as and as a result, he has now scored three goals in his last five appearances for Newcastle including a huge goal against PSG in the Champions League.
Even though it is a longshot, at 13/2 it deserves a small punt so we will take it with 0.25pt stake as our second bet for this game.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly
