England have put themselves back in the driving seat in the race to reach the Super 8s after getting the better of Oman in devastating fashion to overtake Scotland on net run rate.
Jos Buttler’s side now know that a win in this game against Namibia and Australia beating Scotland will be enough to see them through.
Namibia are already out after winning just one of their opening three games, a Super Over victory over Oman.
Namibia vs England Tips
One of the biggest issues for England’s batting line-up is the performances of Will Jacks. While the youngster is clearly talented, he has struggled at number three and is clearly more well suited to opening.
However, the success of Salt and Buttler means he likely won’t get the opportunity to fill that spot so will need to improve his performances in his current position.
Jacks has made totals of 10 and 5 at the T20 World Cup thus far and in fact has failed to pass his run line of 23.5 in six of his last nine innings.
England’s batting line-up failed to cover itself in glory against Australia but the two players who have had the best campaign in both the warm-up series against Pakistan and the first two completed games of the T20 World Cup have been openers Phil Salt and Jos Buttler.
Salt had to force the issue last time out to try and force a heavy victory as they chased Oman’s total of 47 and he hit back-to-back sixes before being dismissed on his third delivery.
That win means that England can afford a more patient approach here, and Buttler and Salt can continue their impressive recent showings.
In their last nine T20 outings at the top of the order together, they have put on partnerships of 77, 9, 115, 117, 24, 25, 82, 73 and 12.
That totals an average opening partnership of 59.33 and they should be able to rack up the score against a Namibian bowling attack that took just one Australian wicket last time out.
David Wiese has undoubtedly been Namibia’s star performer in this T20 World Cup and the all-rounder could continue that trend here.
He was the only Namibian bowler to take a wicket in their last outing against Australia and also secured three dismissals in their opening win over Oman.
The 39-year-old can be his team’s top wicket taker once more.
