Mexico vs. Poland Betting Tips: Two bets for Group C encounter on Tuesday

We are treated to a fascinating Group C contest at 4pm on Tuesday (live on BBC1) as Mexico and Poland do battle and the bookmakers are struggling to split the pair who sit in the same group as the heavyweights Argentina and the relative minnows Saudi Arabia. Our in-house tipster Steve Chambers previews the match here and fancies the game to be a tight encounter...
Mexico v Poland Odds
Not since 1986 have Poland managed to make it out of the group stages in the World Cup, but Czesław Michniewicz's men will fancy their chances of booking a last-16 spot at the 2022 World Cup and a win against Mexico on Tuesday would give them a huge catalyst to make it out of Group C.
Their inspirational captain Robert Lewandoski will be an integral cog if Poland are to go far in this tournament and he will lead the line and there's no surprise to see him installed as the 9/2 favourite to score the first goal.
A 1-0 warm-up win against Chile last week saw the Poles head to Qatar in good spirits, but their competitive form has been relatively questionable in recent times.
A comfortable 2-0 win over Sweden in the World Cup play-off was followed by a 2-1 win over Wales, but they were thrashed 6-1 by Belgium in the Nations League before a draw with the Netherlands was followed by a 1-0 loss against Belgium and a 2-0 defeat to the aforementioned Netherlands.

Despite having Lewandoski (he's never scored in a World Cup) in their ranks, the Poles have struggled for goals at the highest level and only netted twice in the 2018 World Cup, so may lack the cutting edge to get by Mexico.
A disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sweden last week saw Mexico stutter to Qatar and much will be relied on their attacking stars Hirving Lozano and Raul Jimenez. A strong affiliation with the World Cup (made last-16 in last seven tournaments), Mexico have often found like tough against the elite, but against Poland they will look to kick off with a promising display.
Mexico v Poland Tips
At the time of writing, Mexico have been made slight favourites and while they qualified for the World Cup with relative ease (2nd in CONCACAF qualification) they have blown hot and cold recently.
A disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sweden last week saw them stutter to Qatar and much will be relied on their attacking stars Hirving Lozano and Raul Jimenez. A strong affiliation with the World Cup (made last-16 in last seven tournaments), Mexico have often found like tough against the elite, but against Poland they could kick off with a promising display.
So evenly matched, this could be a real cagey encounter as both are expectant that Argentina will cruise through the group with aplomb, and this clash could determine who finishes second, so the draw at 2/1 (bet365) could be the way to go with neither giving an inch from the first whistle.
These two sides last clashed back in November 2017 with a solitary Raul Jimenez goal handing Mexico a 1-0 friendly win, but previously the last three meetings had ended in parity with the final score being 1-1.
That triumvirate of draws all came in friendlies and this will be their first competitive clash since the 1978 World Cup where Poland won 3-1, but it's sensible to look at another 1-1 scoreline, which is currently a 5/1 chance with bet365.
With both sure to try and shut up shop for the first 45 minutes then the 6/4 about the match being 0-0 at half-time is another worthy of a mention, while the 5/4 with Paddy Power for the 2nd half to be the highest scoring half looks another eye-catching bet for those punters looking for alternative bets away from the draw.
