Mexico vs. Germany Betting Tips: Two bets for international friendly
The United States is the hosting venue for a 13th meeting between Mexico and Germany at 1am BST on Wednesday in an international friendly match.
At last year's most recent major tournament Mexico failed to progress from the group stages. 2023 has been a largely promising year for the team though, who've lost only two of their 16 matches this calendar year, lifting the CONCACAF Gold Cup back in July. The litmus test, however, comes against Wednesday's opposition Germany, who pose a real threat unlike a lot of the usual fodder non-European teams experience.
Julian Nagelsmann's side handed USA a reality check last weekend, navigating their hosts taking the lead to later boast a 3-1 win in Saturday's friendly. That leaves Germany searching for their third consecutive win here, and back-to-back victories under their new boss before a month's break from international football.
Mexico vs Germany Tips
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. This very selection produced a winner for us above even money in the USA vs Germany game and we have good reason to believe it'll sail home once again in their meeting with Mexico.
Whether it's a convincing win as Saturday's friendly proved to be, or Mexico do a good job of holding their own against the 2024 European Championship hosts, we can't see this ending with one or even zero goals.
With both of these teams having already qualified for their next major tournaments by default, they have to keep themselves competitive in friendlies.
That's particularly the case for Germany's new head coach Julian Nagelsmann, who as mentioned previously, steered his team to a debut win and will have to use friendlies between now and next summer's tournament to lay down a marker of intent.
Although they've had three different coaches in charge, Germany have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last seven matches, conceding 15 goals during this period.
The level of opposition might not be as high as it is for European teams but Mexico have still proven themselves partial to a goal this year. They've scored at least once in 15 of their last 17 matches, including two in their World Cup Group C closer and in each of their last six runouts.
Nagelsmann has to find the right balance between providing competition for places but also start to mould the team in his own image. Jamal Musiala is expected to be a big part of the new boss' plans and should get the nod as a central attacking midfielder for the Mexico encounter.
He re-emerged with a goal in the 3-1 win over USA after missing out on the squad for friendlies with Japan and France. Over the last 365 days, Musiala is averaging 2.26 shots per 90, and maintained this busy stat with a further three on Saturday.
The 20-year-old was afforded 81 minutes of playing time last weekend and should expect a similar amount here. If Germany can click into gear as they did in the second half with USA, we should be looking at a similar scoreline to that game, giving Musiala the perfect opportunity to impress once more.
