Manchester United vs. Burnley Betting Tips: Back United to Win & under 3.5 goals at Old Trafford
As the dust settles out in the desert after a magnificent World Cup, our attention now returns to England with the League Cup taking centre stage this week. Manchester United host Burnley in one of three ties taking place on Wednesday, with the game being shown live on Sky Sports. As usual, we’ve provided you with our best bets for the game.
Prior to the World Cup break, Manchester United had only lost one of their last 12 matches in all competitions and will look to resume with a win here to advance through to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. United can be backed at 4/11 to get the job done in 90 minutes, with 2/9 on show for them to qualify.
Burnley are enjoying life under Vincent Kompany and are sitting pretty at the top of the Championship tree as we approach the busy Christmas period. The Clarets came out 3-1 winners at Turf Moor against Middlesbrough at the weekend and arrive here with confidence high. For those who fancy a Burnley win, 7/1 is available, while 3/1 is on offer in the ‘to qualify’ market.
Manchester United vs Burnley Tips
First up on Wednesday evening we are backing Manchester United to win and for there to be under 3.5 goals scored in the match. Erik ten Hag’s side had made significant progress in the weeks leading up to the International break and had won nine of their last 12 before the domestic proceedings were put on hold.
United to win and under 3.5 goals has landed in seven of their last eight victories in all competitions and looks a wise play for this Carabao clash. Burnley will be up for this one and we think they will make things tricky for the hosts. Vincent Kompany’s side have only lost once in the Championship since August and have scored 2+ goals in all of their last six matches.
We’ve also picked out a 5/1 poke, which comes via the Bet Builder feature on bet365. The first half is for Burnley’s Nathan Tella to have Over 1.5 shots in the match. The 23-year-old who is on loan from Southampton has scored seven league goals this term and is averaging 1.9 shots per game. Tella has recorded 2+ shots in five of his last six starts for Burnley and looks a little overpriced at 9/4 to clear this line on Wednesday.
The second part of our Bet Builder is for Scott McTominay to attempt over 44.5 passes in the game. The Scot has been in and out of the starting XI for United this season but was handed a start in this competition against Aston Villa last month. McTominay made 51 passes in that game as well as getting on the scoresheet and we think that figure could be even higher if he features for the full 90 against lower quality opponents in Burnley. Combining those two picks pays 5/1 on bet365.
