Report: Manchester City have recorded the least shots in the Premier League at home this season
Manchester City have been a dominant force in the Premier League for the last 10 seasons, winning six of the last 10 league titles. This season they’re in third place but are still the favourites to win the title.
We’ve had a deep dive into the stats behind their current campaign and have found that they’ve recorded the least shots at home in the league this season. City have only registered 28 shots at the Etihad this season, which is the worst at home in the league by far this season.
To make this even more unusual, Manchester City have had the most shots in the league away from home this season by quite a decent margin, with 103 shots in their five away trips.

It’s strange to see City with such a low amount of shots at the Eithad. You may say they have only played three games at home this season, but Liverpool and Tottenham have both also only had three home games and are on 65 and 69 shots.
Away from home they’re averaging 20.6 shots per game, compared to the 9.3 per game they have been firing at the Etihad this season. Not to mention, one of their home games this season was a 5-1 victory over Fulham!
Even in the aforementioned Fulham game, they only recorded seven shots with five being on target. It’s not a sign of concern for City fans, as they’re still undefeated at home in the league this season, perhaps it’s even one of Pep’s tactics, but it’s a strange statistic to say the least.
When we compare City to other teams in the league when looking at shots taken at home, it becomes even more puzzling.

We can see that Manchester City are 70 shots behind leaders Brighton and are 66 off Everton in second place. Manchester City are obviously in a much better position in the actual league standings than in this table, but it just makes you think... What on earth is Guardiola cooking up at the Etihad?
