Man United vs Fulham Bet Builder Tips
The last seven opening matches of a Premier League season have seen a total of 25 goals - just shy of a four per game average.
Fulham netted two goals at Old Trafford in February's surprise 2-1 win for the Cottagers, while the net rippled four times in the pair's March 2023 FA Cup fixture at this ground and a further three times in May 2023's league fixture here.
Given the need for both teams to bed in a number of new players and United's continued defensive imbalance, we should see plenty of action at both ends of the pitch on Friday.
At the other end of the pitch for the hosts, Marcus Rashford is desperate for a big season. That will require him to 1) stay fit and 2) pull out all the stops to contribute with the rising pressure on ten Hag and United to deliver under their new boardroom structure.
The 26-year-old fell 10 goals short of his 2022/23 league tally last season, nailing only seven strikes for a number of reasons, no less due to his suspect finishing.
Say what you will about Rashford's suitability to being a centre forward, but you'd rather get onside with a player who is failing to convert chances after taking up the right positions at the right time rather than someone who is simply unable to carve out those chances for themselves.
That's why his failure to deliver on the chances he was afforded in the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City isn't overly alarming. With other players able to step up in his absence, like Alejandro Garnacho at Wembley for example, that should alleviate some of the pressure from him feeling like he needs to be United's main man in every single game.
Within Fulham's attack, last season's top goalscorer, Rodrigo Muniz, posted nine goals in his debut Premier League campaign and should be able to improve on that number this time around.
With goals against Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Brighton, Crystal Palace and two versus Tottenham, the former Flamengo striker has already displayed a knack for scoring against some of the league's stronger opposition.
The addition of Arsenal's Emile Smith-Rowe should provide some further creativity into this Fulham team and Muniz is likely to be the immediate beneficiary of such a transfer.
United generated an xGA of 65.53 in the Premier League last term, but only conceded 58 times. If that downward trajectory continues, which it could well do given the looming issues with their backline, then it's highly unlikely that the Red Devils will be able to avoid such a disparity between how many goals they're expected to concede against how many they actually let in.
