Man United vs Barnsley Prediction, Odds, Betting Tips and Team News: Alejandro Garnacho to score
Man United kick-off their League Cup campaign in the third round at home to Barnsley tonight, live at 8pm on Sky Sports Main Event.
We've previewed the game, looked at the starting line-ups, and identified our two best bets for the action.
Man United vs Barnsley Predictions
Man Utd, as has been the case since Erik ten Hag's appointment two years ago, have been typically hit-and-miss this season. A slender 1-0 win at home to Fulham was swiftly followed by defeats to Brighton and Liverpool, however, they responded with a convincing 3-0 win away to Southampton last weekend.
While there are still plenty of creases for Ten Hag to iron out, inconsistency being at the forefront of his dilemmas, the fact remains that United have thrived in domestic cup competitions, having won the League Cup and FA Cup in Ten Hag's first two seasons - they are priced at 14/1 to go on and win this competition for the second time in three years.
After firing in three against the Saints, United are priced at 7/10 to Win and Score Over 2.5 Goals once again on Tuesday against Barnsley, who have leaked in 2+ goals in 15 of their last 21 League One games, which doesn't bode well for a trip to Man Utd, especially given that they lost 3-0 to Stevenage over the weekend.

With the games starting to come thick and fast, Ten Hag has switched things up in the Carabao Cup, which means there's a start for Alejandro Garnacho, who came off the bench to score United's third against the Saints on Saturday; his second goal contribution of the season following his assist off the bench against Fulham.
The winger has sparkled in moments, despite his limited game time, and will look to use his opportunity of a rare start against Barnsley to force his way into Ten Hag's permanent thinking once again.
Saturday's goal would have done wonders for his confidence and at 5/4 he looks decent value to add another against a League One opponent that not suffered a 3-0 defeat at Stevenage over the weekend, but whose defence has kept one league clean sheet in 16 games dating back to March; conceding 2+ in 11 of those matches.
