It will be a repeat of last year’s Manchester Derby showpiece as newly crowned Premier League Champions Manchester City look to retain their FA Cup trophy and complete a double. Despite Arsenal’s best efforts pushing them to the final day, the Citizens lifted the Premier League trophy for a record fourth year in a row after beating West Ham United 3-1 in front of a packed Etihad crowd.
Manchester United will be hoping to redeem a disappointing Premier League campaign by lifting the FA Cup for the 13th time in their history. Ten Hag’s men are in decent form, having won back to back league games to end the season, but their eighth place finish in the league table means they must win the FA Cup to secure European football for next season.
Guardiola’s men will be firm favourites to win the final, boasting a club-record 35 game unbeaten run in all competitions, but form can sometimes go out of the window in these derbies so Manchester United can not be written off completely.
City have beaten United in six of their last seven head to head encounters in all competitions, scoring a huge 21 goals in the process so ten Hag has a huge task ahead of him to help United lift silverware this season. A heated derby of huge significance awaits us and two of my best bets are included below.
Team News:
Ederson is out for Manchester City. No other injuries/suspensions to worry about.
Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw & Harry Maguire are out for Manchester United.
Man City vs Man Utd Tips
- Bruno Fernandes - Over 0.5 shots
- Phil Foden - Over 1.5 shots
- Diogo Dalot - Over 0.5 fouls committed
Bruno Fernandes is averaging the most shots per game for Manchester United this season (2.6) in all competitions and is their joint-top scorer in the Premier League with 10 goals. He has registered at least one shot in his last nine consecutive league games and had two shots on goal in last year’s final against Manchester City at Wembley, also scoring a penalty.
Phil Foden is averaging 2.9 shots per game for Manchester City this season and is in supreme goal scoring form, having bagged five goals in his last five games in all competitions. He had nine shots against United at the Etihad earlier this season and should comfortably clear the “Over 1.5 shots” line for the bet builder.
Finally, Diogo Dalot averages the most fouls per game for United so far this season (1.3) and will be up against the likes of Doku or Grealish on the right. He committed two fouls the last time he came up against City at the Etihad earlier this season and I expect him to be forced into committing a couple of fouls here again.
- Bruno Fernandes - Over 1.5 shots
- Phil Foden - Over 2.5 shots
- Diogo Dalot - Over 1.5 fouls committed
For the second pick, we will be taking higher lines on all three selections. Bruno has hit two or more shots in 10 of his last 12 league games while Foden has attempted three or more shots on goal in 13 of his last 18 league games and with the goalscoring form he is currently in, he will not shy away from shooting from outside the box.
As for this final leg, Dalot has committed 1, 3, 2 & 2 fouls in his last four league games and also cleared the “Over 1.5 fouls” line earlier this season against Manchester City at the Etihad. Combining these three selections gives us a cracking longshot bet builder @ 5/1 which we will take with a small 0.25pt stake as our second bet for this blockbuster FA Cup final.
