Man City vs. Chelsea Betting Tips: Top two bets for Etihad encounter

Man City and Chelsea lock horns at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon, live on Sky Sports 1 at 4pm.

The hosts sit top of the table with 85 points, four points above Arsenal with a game in hand heading into the weekend. This is a game of huge significance for City as they can clinch the title with a win in front of their own supporters and shift their focus on to the Champions League final and the FA Cup final as they look to complete a historic treble. 

Guardiola’s men come into this game full of confidence having gone unbeaten in their last 23 games and demolishing Real Madrid 4-0 in the second leg of the Champions League semi finals in midweek. 

As for Chelsea, it has been an incredibly disappointing season as they head towards their first bottom-half finish since 1996. They come into this game in horrible form, winning just one out of their last 11 games in all competitions and have lost their last five consecutive head to head games against Manchester City without scoring a single goal. Everything points towards another comfortable City victory but the Blues will be hoping to cause an upset against all odds.

Manchester City have seen at least three goals in their last 10 consecutive home games in all competitions. They are scoring for fun at the moment and now host a Chelsea side that look dreadful in defence having kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 games in all competitions. 

They have looked better going forward in recent weeks scoring four goals in their last three games including a goal against Arsenal which is why we are backing the goal line instead of City’s handicap here. 

This bet landed when Chelsea last came to the Etihad in the FA Cup as City ran out 4-0 winners and I would not be surprised if we see a similar scoreline here. Take the “Over 3.0 goal line” @ 5/6 with a 1pt stake as our main selection for this game.

Phil Foden is averaging 1.2 key passes per game for City and has registered five assists in the league despite starting just nine games all season. He was on the pitch for just six minutes against Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League and played a beautiful through pass to Alvarez to set up their fourth goal. 

I expect him to be rewarded with a start here against Chelsea and at 10/3 I am happy to take it as our second selection for this game considering the same pick is as low as 6/4 with some bookmakers.
