Liverpool vs. Wolves Betting Tips: Two card angles for FA Cup third round clash

The FA Cup third round takes centre stage this weekend as holders Liverpool begin the defence of their trophy at home to fellow Premier League side Wolves on Saturday night, live on ITV4 at 8pm.
JimmyThePunt is at the helm for this one, previewing the match and highlighting a couple of bets in the cards market...
Jurgen Klopp is not exactly a fan of England’s domestic competitions, but their FA Cup third-round clash with Wolves could provide just the tonic for what, so far, has been a disappointing campaign.
Liverpool have already lost seven times, three more defeats than they suffered last season, and that is including the loss in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
In their four games since the restart, the Reds have won as many games as they have lost, two, with unconvincing victories over Aston Villa and Leicester sandwiched in between an EFL Cup exit courtesy of Manchester City and a defeat at Brentford.
Their most recent defeat in the capital was particularly devastating, not just because of the scoreline, but the fact that Virgil van Dijk suffered a hamstring injury.
The Dutch defender will play no part in this clash, Joel Matip will likely partner Joe Gomez at the heart of defence.
Elsewhere, it remains to be seen just how drastic Klopp’s rotation will be but Cody Gakpo could be handed his debut.
The visitors will come into this match a much happier side.
Highly regarded supremo Julen Lopetegui’s tenure got off to an encouraging start in which a marginal defeat at Old Trafford is the only blemish.
Despite dominating proceedings at Villa Park in their most recent game, Wanderers were held to a draw.
It remains to be seen exactly how many changes the visitors will make here, but with the likes of Matheus Cunha, Adama Traore and Raúl Jiménez waiting in the wings, they certainly have the quality to go toe-to-toe with Liverpool.
Liverpool vs Wolves Tips
Recent history shows that games at Anfield do not produce many cards.
In fact, of the 13 to take place there this season, only two have seen four or more cards brandished, 10 have seen two or fewer with the Reds avoiding a single card in 54%.
However, I have a feeling this clash may buck the trend because Andy Madley has the whistle, a man who had brandished 16 cards in his last two appearances.
Ruben Neves is the shortest priced of any player to be carded and does look a prime candidate.
The midfielder has picked up 55 domestically since moving to England, that is a cards per 90 average of 0.38, which makes anything around 2/1 worth taking.
Coupling Neves with Fabinho looks tasty paying out at 18/1 with bet365, as Neves' Brazilian counterpart is pretty familiar with English officials as well.
Fabinho has racked up 92 cards during his career and at the base of midfield, could be tasked with covering Cunha and Traore.
Best of luck if you are backing any of these selections and please remember to gamble responsibly.
