Jurgen Klopp’s men sit top of the Premier League table with 63 points and possess the best home record in the league with 11 wins and two draws as they are yet to taste defeat in front of their supporters.
As for Manchester City, they sit second in the table with 62 points and are on a run of 18 wins and two draws in their last 20 games in all competitions and are clicking into gear at the perfect time as they make their push towards the title.
With Arsenal right behind them with 61 points, both these sides know that dropping points here could be detrimental in the title race which massively increases the significance of this fixture.
Pep Guardiola’s side have lost on their last two trips to Anfield but will need a result here if they want to keep their hopes of a fourth consecutive league title.
Both teams have scored in eight of their last nine head-to-head meetings and I expect another entertaining clash with a lot of goal-mouth action as both teams aim for the all important three points.
A mouth-watering top of the table clash awaits us and I have included my two best bets in the preview below:
Team News:
- Liverpool are dealing with a long list of injuries as Matip, Jota, Trent, Allison, Bajcetic, Jones, Gravenberch & Thiago are out while Konate is doubtful.
- Jack Grealish is out for Manchester City while Jeremy Doku & Matheus Nunes are doubtful.
Liverpool vs Man City Tips
- Bet Builder @ 4/5 - 1pt (Bet365) - Selections Below.
- Bet Builder @ 3/1 - 0.25pt (Bet365) - Selections Below.
Bet Builder (1) Selections
- Darwin Nunez - Over 1.5 shots
- Alexis Mac Allister - Over 0.5 fouls committed
- Over 0 cards in the 2nd half
Darwin Nunez averages the most shots per game (3.4) for Liverpool in the Premier League this season. He has attempted a total of 24 shots in just his last three games at Anfield for Liverpool which is an insane average of eight shots per game.
He loves taking shots from distance and also attempted four shots the last time he faced Manchester City at the Etihad earlier this season. He is in brilliant goalscoring form with five goals scored in his last four appearances so he should be confident to comfortably breach the “Over 1.5 shots” line.
As for Mac Allister, he averages the most fouls per game (1.6) for Liverpool this season in the league and has committed at least one foul in 18 of his 22 league appearances.
Considering the significance of this game in the title race, backing a yellow card in the second half of the game also makes perfect sense with cynical fouls expected towards the end.
Combining these three selections gives us a solid bet builder at odds of 4/5 and we will take that as our main bet for this massive top of the table clash.
Bet Builder (2) Selections
- Darwin Nunez - Over 2.5 shots
- Alexis Mac Allister - Over 1.5 fouls committed
Following on from my main selection, I am going to take the higher lines on both Nunez’s shots and Mac Allister’s fouls.
Nunez has hit the “Over 2.5 shots” line in eight of his 12 league appearances at Anfield and also cleared this line at the Etihad earlier this season.
As for Mac Allister, he will be up against the likes of De Bruyne and Rodri in that midfield battle, and considering he has hit the “Over 1.5 fouls” line in his last four consecutive appearances at the Anfield, adding this higher line makes sense.
Combining these two selections gives us a cracking betbuilder at odds of 3/1 and I will take that as my second bet for this massive game.
