Liverpool vs. Southampton Betting Tips: 14/1 Bet Builder for Saturday's action

Liverpool (8th) welcome Southampton (18th) to Anfield on Saturday in one of five 3pm Premier League matches.
Liverpool have won nine of the last 10 meetings between the teams, including three on the spin. The Reds will be expected to bag the spoils once again this weekend, however there will be an element of intrigue surrounding the Saints whose new manager Nathan Jones will be looking to make an instant impact in his first match in charge.
Full preview and tips below, including a 14/1 tickle...
Liverpool vs Southampton Tips
Liverpool rebounded from shock back-to-back league defeats to Nottingham Forest and Leeds to carve out a 2-1 victory at Tottenham. Still seven points adrift of fourth spot, Jurgen Klopp will demand that his troops round off this section of the season with a win at home to Southampton this weekend.

As for the Saints, it’s been a rather eventful week on the south coast. For the first time in four years Ralph Hasenhuttl won’t be their manager in the dugout for a Premier League game after he was sacked in the aftermath of a 4-1 defeat at home to Newcastle. In his place is Nathan Jones from Luton, whose first taste of Premier League football comes at Anfield.
The Welshman will be tasked with giving Saints supporters some rare cheer, although his new side are out at 11/1 to stun the hosts. Liverpool are the 1/4 favourites for the three points, with a draw at 29/5.
While it will be interesting to see whether Nathan Jones can lift Southampton’s spirits, he’s been handed an extremely tough opening game here, regardless of Liverpool’s mixed form this season.
As previously mentioned, Liverpool have won nine of the last 10 encounters between the teams, including the last five on home soil. Meanwhile, the Saints sacked their manager for a reason: results have on the whole been very disappointing this season, with the visitors recording just one win from their last nine in the league, suffering six defeats in the process.
A Liverpool win looks the straightforward option, albeit it is a rather minuscule price at 1/4. However, pair it with a Mo Salah goal via bet365’s Bet Builder app and you get a far more appealing 23/20.
After a surprisingly mediocre return of three goals in his first 11 league games of the season, Salah is smack bang in form after scoring three times in two matches, including a brace in the 2-1 defeat of Spurs last weekend. He’ll certainly fancy his chances of breaching a stuttering Saints defence that has conceded in 13 of their 14 top-flight games this term. Yikes.
For the long shot, I've once again utilised bet365's Bet Builder feature to produce a 14/1 fancy, consisting of three components.
Firstly, I'm after Harvey Elliott to have over 0.5 shots on target (8/13). The Liverpool midfielder has scored three goals in all competitions so far this term, and featured in all 13 of his club's league matches this season. He's amassed a shot in 12 of those 13 matches, with this particular SOT bet landing twice in his last three league games.
I'm also backing Che Adams to have at least one shot on goal at 6/5. The Saints striker has had more shots (26) and more SOT (10) than any of his teammates this season, with six SOT in his last four starts. While he can often frustrate when it comes to finding the back of the net - three goals this season - he frequently manoeuvres himself into excellent goalscoring positions and is odds-against to at least test Alisson this weekend.
Finally, I'm throwing a Mohammed Salisu card (3/1) into the mix to elevate this bet up to 14/1. The Saints centre-back could be in for a long afternoon at Anfield where he'll have to deal with a rejuvenated Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez, who despite his lack of goals can prove to be a real nuisance. Salisu has picked up more league yellows (11) than any Liverpool or Saints player since the start of last season, including three so far this campaign.
