Euro 2021 Top Scorer Odds: The Value Alternative to backing Harry Kane to win the Golden Boot

Harry Kane’s winning goal for England in extra-time sent the country into a state of ecstasy that many have never seen in their lifetimes on Wednesday evening, with the Three Lions captain finding the net for the fourth time this tournament.
It may not have been the most glamorous of strikes with Kane slotting home the rebound after Kasper Schmeichel had saved his penalty, but England fans will not mind one bit. Kane is now just a goal behind the top goalscorers at Euro 2021 and we’ve revisited this market to see the latest odds available.
Who are the top scorers?
50 of the 51 matches have now been played at this summer’s European Championships and whatever happens on Sunday, it’s a tournament to remember with plenty of open and adventurous football on display. Cristiano Ronaldo and Patrick Schick are the current top scorers with five goals to their name.
5 - Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)
5 - Patrick Schick (Czech Republic)
4 - Harry Kane (England)
4 - Emil Forsberg (Sweden)
4 - Karim Benzema (France)
4 - Romelu Lukaku

Latest Prices
At the head of the Euro 2021 Top Goalscorer market are Cristiano Ronaldo and Patrick Schick are both priced at 6/4. Paddy Power have Harry Kane at 7/2 to snatch the award, while Raheem Sterling follows him in the betting at 20/1. Sterling is two goals behind the leaders and should more than one player be tied at the top after Sunday it would be a split payout with dead heat rules applying.
6/4 - Cristiano Ronaldo
6/4 - Patrick Schick
7/2 - Harry Kane
20/1 - Raheem Sterling
Can Kane do it?
Italy have no player who has scored more than two goals at the Euros meaning a hat-trick would be required for one of the five who currently have two goals in order to catch the top scorers.
Harry Kane is the most likely threat for Ronaldo and Schick and bookmakers have him the shortest price of any player to score in Sunday’s final at 6/4 with bet365. The England captain has scored 37 goals in all competitions for club and country since the start of last season and has grown into this tournament.
Kane managed just six shots in his first four games at the Euros but has come alive since his goal against Germany registering four shots against Ukraine and another four against Denmark in the Semi-Final.
The value alternative to backing Kane for the Golden Boot
As mentioned earlier, if more than one player is tied with the most goals at the tournament, dead heat rules will apply. This creates a bit of a dilemma for punters with Kane needing two goals for them to receive a full on the 7/2 that is available.
An alternative for punters who are looking to back Kane to win the award would be to instead back him to score two or more goals against Italy. This is currently priced at 10/1 with a handful of firms for England v Italy with 14/1 being available from Sky Bet in their Price Boosts for the game.
Kane already scooped the Premier League Golden Boot Award a few months ago for the third time and if he did manage to get his hands on the prestigious prize at the Euros it would be the perfect accompaniment for his Golden Boot award from the 2018 World Cup.
