Qatar are bidding to join the party of Japan (4), Saudi Arabia (3), Iran (3), and South Korea (2) as multiple winners of the Asian Cup, a trophy they lifted for the first time four years ago in the UAE.
They battled past the well-fancied Iranians, who hadn't lost in 18 matches, in the semi-finals which prolonged their own unbeaten run in the tournament to 13 matches.
Tintín Márquez's side have been installed as the 8/15 favourites to win the Asian Cup and can be backed at 23/20 to win Saturday's showdown in 90 minutes.
Jordan have proved to be one of the stories of the tournament. After squeezing through the group stages as a third-placed finisher, they proceeded to score two injury-time goals to stun Iraq 3-2 in the last-16. They edged out Tajikistan in the quarter-finals, then shocked Saudia Arabia 2-0 in the semi-finals to progress through to their first ever final.
The brilliantly named 'The Chivalrous Ones' can be backed at 5/2 to go on and win the tournament outright and 6/4 to be victorious in 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, a draw at normal time has been priced up at 21/10.
Jordan vs Qatar Tips
Both bets in 90 minutes.
Two of the last three Asian Cup finals have ventured into extra-time and with so much at stake on Saturday, I think we could see another final go the distance, making a draw at 90 minutes my go-to bet at 21/10 with BetMGM.
Qatar have the passionate support of the home nation fuelling their quest for back-to-back titles. After breezing through the group stages, the home nation have been made to fight for their place in the final. They came from behind to beat Palestine in the last-16, held their nerve to beat Uzbekistan on penalties, then played out a five goal thriller against Iran in the semi-finals, which they won eight minutes from time.
Jordan may have lost to Bahrain in the group stages, but that blip aside, they've conjured up some pretty impressive performances. They thrashed Malaysia 4-0 in their opening game, while only an injury time equaliser from Son Heung-min prevented them from beating South Korea, however they got revenge in the semi-finals; defeating the same opponents 2-0. They also showcased their fighting spirit in a last-gasp 3-2 comeback win over Iraq in the last-16.
With Qatar after consecutive Asian Cup successes and Jordan chasing history, I think we are in store for a tight, tense, and competitive clash.
As I did in the semi-finals, I will once again be backing the in-form Akram Afif to find the back of the net (9/4, bet365).
The Qatar talisman has notched five goals this tournament and has six in his last seven appearances for his country, with his semi-final goal against Iran the best of the lot - a fine right-footed curler.
He's peaked at just the right time and I fancy him to produce more moments of magic on Saturday.
I'm teaming this with a goal for Jordan's Musa Al-Taamari aka the “Jordanian Messi” to form a nice 14/1 goalscoring Bet Builder.
Like Afif, Al-Taamari has sparkled at the 2023 Asian Cup, scoring three goals. He conjured up a superb semi-final performance, scoring and assisting in the 2-0 win over South Korea. The Montpellier man will no doubt be central to his country's chances of glory on Saturday.
