Jake Paul Next Fight Odds: Conor McGregor And Tommy Fury Favourites

It’s the thought that worries boxing fans all around the globe. Is Jake Paul actually turning into a legitimate boxer?
His early fights could have been passed off as a mere show, beating YouTuber AnEnsonGib and former basketball player Nate Robinson. He then moved onto his toughest challenge, stopping former MMA fighter Ben Askren in 1:59 of round 1. Since then, his loud-mouthing has continued on social media, and many thought that would stop after facing former UFC Champion Tyron Woodley, a man previously famed for his knockout power.
But that would not be the case, with Paul winning by split decision. Then comes this weekend’s bout. Jake Paul was scheduled to face professional boxer and former Love Island star, Tommy Fury, after what’s seemed like months of back-and-forth between the two. But with Fury pulling out of the fight weeks before, Woodley stepped back in to avenge his previous loss. It wasn’t to be for Woodley however, who was knocked out in sensational fashion by Paul in the 6th round.
Since then, all the talk has been who Paul will face next, with several high profile stars already calling him out, many feeling that he makes a mockery of combat sports. The American is definitely seen as a big-money fight in terms of audience, and we’ll dive into the odds, courtesy of Oddschecker US, to see who he could face next.
Conor McGregor: 7/2
The man who helped MMA, and in particular UFC, rise to the stardom it’s now seen at. From his sensational knockout of Jose Aldo, to his decimation of Eddie Alvarez, Conor McGregor was once seen as the biggest star in the sport. The build-up, fight, and after-math of his bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov will go down in history, but things haven’t been the same for McGregor since. The Notorious is 1-3 in his last four fights, and whilst he is obviously still seen as a big money fight, his actual motivation and ability is one that’s been called into question recently.
A fight against Jake Paul would surely set McGregor back in the W column, whilst no doubt earning the Irishman a hefty payday, but whether he’d be able to possibly risk his entire legacy against a determined Paul, is one that remains to be seen.
Tommy Fury: 7/2
The previously mentioned Tommy Fury, brother of Tyson is only at the start of a fledgling boxing career himself. A record of seven fights, seven wins, with four coming by way of knockout, is an impressive start on the surface of things, but when you scratch a little deeper, his calibre of opponents leaves a lot to be desired. Fury will be keen to make sure he doesn’t miss this payday again, whilst the pair’s bad blood doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. It’s definitely one to keep an eye on.

Jorge Masvidal: 9/2
“Let me tell you a secret about me, I fight for money or I fight the best in the world. You are neither. Come on over to the UFC, sign a one-fight deal. I will break your jaw in front of the whole world.”
The words of Street Judas, Jorge Masvidal himself, a man who has the most iconic knockout in UFC history, laying Paul’s former opponent Ben Askren out in just seconds with a running knee. Masvidal has lost his last two fights himself, albeit against UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman. It remains to be seen if Masvidal would transfer to boxing as we’ve seen others do, or if he’d stay in MMA, but growing up street fighting in Miami, where he featured on Kimbo Slice’s videos, he’d certainly have the edge going into a fight with former Disney Channel star Jake Paul.
Nate Diaz: 13/2
Another icon of the Octagon, Nate Diaz. Born and raised on the mean streets of Stockton, Diaz prides himself on being one of the only true gangstas left in fighting, so it remains to be seen how he’d take to a fight against Jake Paul. However, money talks, and with Diaz 1-3 in his last four fights, it’s hard to see in all reason where his next W could come from. A big final payoff before retirement could be the perfect scenario for Diaz, as an epic trilogy contest with Conor McGregor seems unlikely.
Canelo Alvarez: 66/1
The pound for pound best boxer in the world, surely he wouldn’t take a fight against a YouTuber? Jake Paul has taken his time to call out almost every big name in the industry on his winning streak, and Canelo is just another of them. Paul sent out a tweet recently, targeting Alvarez, saying simply, “I hope you’re training.” but surely this is nothing more than a bit of clickbait?
For Alvarez to fight Paul, you’d have to think of one of only two reasons. One, he really, really hates him, and just wants to put an end to all this nonsense. Two, they offer Canelo an astronomical amount of money, which he simply couldn’t turn down. Either way, you’d imagine that all it would take is one sickening liver shot from the Mexican, to end all this drama.
