The Tractor Boys have endured a tough return to the English top-flight, losing 2-0 at home to Liverpool and 4-1 against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium before being dumped out of the EFL Cup by AFC Wimbledon on penalties.
Fulham were edged out 1-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford in their season opener, but they have responded well with back-to-back victories, beating Leicester 2-1 in the league and Birmingham 2-0 in the cup.
The Cottagers have won the last six meetings against Ipswich, four of those coming at Portman Road, and they make the trip to Suffolk with a fully fit squad to choose from.
Ipswich's treatment room is filling up at this early stage of the campaign, with Wes Burns, George Hirst, Janoi Donacien, Nathan Broadhead and Harry Clarke expected to miss this clash.
Ipswich look to have plenty of firepower in their squad and the summer additions of last season's Championship top scorer, Sammie Szmodics, and Jack Clarke from Sunderland have boosted the attacking options further.
Although failing to score against Liverpool, the Tractor Boys netted against the Citizens and stuck two past AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the EFL Cup before losing on penalties.
There have been 11 goals in their first three matches of the campaign, with over 3.5 goals landing in two of those games, and that outcome can repeat itself in Saturday's visit of Fulham.
Marco Silva's visitors were unfortunate not to score against the Red Devils, but they made amends by scoring twice in each of their next two outings, beating Leicester and Birmingham.
Fulham were involved in some high-scoring fixtures away from home last season, with over 3.5 goals seen in four of their last eight road assignments in the league in the 2023/24 campaign, while over 3.5 strikes have also landed in three of the last five meetings against Ipswich.
This fixture has proven to be a feisty affair with the last three meetings between Ipswich and Fulham producing 12 yellows and a red, and this contest could follow a similar pattern.
With the Tractor Boys desperate to impress in front of their own fans and land their first win, they won't want to give Fulham any space or time on the ball and the tackles are likely to fly in.
There are plenty of booking candidates, but one player who stands out is Ipswich full-back Leif Davis, who was cautioned five times in the Championship last season.
With an entertaining, attacking game expected, there will be times when both defences are exposed and Davis could find himself caught out on a few occasions and forced to make a rash challenge.
