Have Tottenham finally found their manager? Paulo Fonseca goes from a 75/1 outsider to the odds-on favourite

Paulo Fonseca has been installed as the smoking hot new favourite to become the next Tottenham manager, in a fresh twist to what has been a fascinating yet frustrating market which opened its doors over seven weeks ago.
Fonseca, a 75/1 (Paddy Power) outsider earlier today (Wednesday), can now be found at just 1/5 in the betting to replace Jose Mourinho; the manager who just so happened to succeed him at Roma.
This isn’t the first - or perhaps the last - time we’ve seen a manager installed as the leading frontrunner for the Spurs job.
In fact, there have been a plethora of names in the frame; from Julian Nagelsmann two months ago, to Erik ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte, and many many more.
Fonseca, who has been linked to both Everton and Crystal Palace, is currently available for hire after leaving his post at Roma at the end of the season.
The Portuguese coach, 48, spent two years in charge of the Italian club, who finished 5th and 7th during his tenure, while they lost to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man Utd in the Europa League semi-finals.
"Mourinho is a great coach, we all know that,” Fonseca said last month. “I think he will do a great job."
"Speaking honestly, I thought it was time to follow a different path away from Roma."
Fonseca enjoyed far more success in Ukraine at Shakhtar Donetsk, whom he led to a hat-trick of league and cup doubles during his three years in charge.
He previously failed to last the season at Porto, but led Braga to domestic cup glory, while he’s managed a handful of other clubs in his homeland including Paços de Ferreira.
However, if the betting and reports are to be believed he could now be on his way to England’s capital with Spurs.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that Fonseca is in talks to sign a three-year contract, with both parties confident of a deal.
