Greece vs England Prediction, Odds and Betting Tips: Best Bets for Thursday's Nations League clash
Live on ITV, Greece lock horns with England in their penultimate group stage fixture of the Nations League B Group 2 at the Athens Olympic Stadium this Thursday night.
Greece vs England Predictions
The hosts sit top of the group with a perfect record of 12/12 points from their four group stage fixtures, scoring nine goals and conceding just one in the process. With the top spot earning automatic promotion, Greece look to be in pole position to finish ahead of England if they can get a positive result here.
As for England, they sit second in the group, three points behind Greece after they lost the reverse fixture 2-1 against them at the Wembley Stadium last month. Since that loss, they have beaten Finland 3-1 away from home and desperately need to win this game if they want to have a chance at securing automatic promotion to Nations League A.
However, England are currently ravaged with squad issues as a long list of key players including the likes of Declan Rice, Saka, Palmer & Colwill etc. have withdrawn from the squad and several others are suffering from injuries. It will certainly not be an easy task going to Greece and beating an in-form side that has already got the better of them earlier this season. With two sides battling for promotion to League A, we are in for a fiercely contested ninety minutes.
A massive Nations League clash awaits us, and I have included my two best bets for the clash in the preview below:
Team News:
- Dimitrios Kourbelis is suspended for Greece. No other missing players.
- Declan Rice, Saka, Grealish, Foden, Trent, Cole Palmer, Colwill, Mainoo, Stones, Maguire, Ramsdale & Eze are out for England while Kyle Walker is doubtful.
Bakasetas is averaging the most shots per game (3.3) for Greece in this Nations League campaign. He has attempted a total of 13 shots in just four Nations League appearances this season and registered three shots against England at Wembley in the reverse fixture. In his last game against Ireland, he attempted five shots and scored a goal in a man of the match display of performance.
He loves to shoot from distance and is also their designated free kick taker which further gives this selection a boost. Against a weakened England lineup, he will fancy his chances of hitting the back of the net so backing him to attempt two shots seems the perfect choice.
As for Greece, they are averaging 13 shots per game in the Nations League so far, clearing the “Over 6.5 shots” line in all four of their games in this competition this season.
They sit top of the group with a perfect record and attempted a total of 12 shots in the 2-1 win over England at the Wembley Stadium last month. Up against an England side that will be without a lot of key players, an in-form Greece side should comfortably clear this shots line.

For the second bet, we will be taking higher lines on both selections from the main bet builder and adding Greece to hit the back of the net. This is a bet builder that landed in the reverse fixture last month with Greece attempting 12 shots, Bakasetas taking three shots and Greece scoring twice.
Bakasetas has also cleared the “Over 2.5 shots” line in three of his four Nations League fixtures, including the one against England away from home while Greece have cleared the “Over 9.5 shots” line in three of their four Nations League fixtures, registering nine shots in the one game they failed to hit 10 shots.
With Greece playing at the Athens Olympic Stadium in front of their supporters in such a massive game, they will be brimming with confidence and considering the brilliant run of form they are on plus the absences of key players in the England camp, the price of 5/1 looks far too big for this bet builder so we will take it with a small 0.25pt stake as our second bet for this all important clash.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
