Greece vs. Netherlands Betting Tips: Two bets for Monday's Group B fixture
Greece host the Netherlands at the Sophia Stadium in Athens on Monday night in a pivotal Group B qualifying clash.
A Kylian Mbappe brace meant that France secured top spot in Group B last week following a 2-1 victory away to the Netherlands, however, the fight to join Les Bleus at Euro 2024 next summer is on.
Greece, managed by Gus Poyet, currently occupy second spot in the group with 12 points from six matches, pursued by the Netherlands who are three points behind but with a game in hand.
Netherlands beat Greece 3-0 in Eindhoven last September thanks to goals from Marten de Roon, Cody Gakpo, and Wout Weghorst, but Greece have since responded with back-to-back wins, including a 2-0 victory in Dublin last week which ended the Republic of Ireland's hopes of reaching the Euro 2024 finals.
Back on home soil, Greece can be backed at 7/2 to pick up a crucial win in the race for second-spot. 125/1 is the price you can find on an unlikely home win by a four-goal margin, which would definitely secure Greece's place in Germany next summer.
Injury-hit Netherlands are even-money to grab the spoils which would draw them level with Greece on 12 points, while a draw can be backed at 5/2.
Greece vs Netherlands Tips
Greece find themselves in an excellent position in Group B and can draw on a very impressive home record, having lost just once in front of their own fans in 18 matches.
However, with respect, the Netherlands ae a different proposition to the likes of Gibraltar, Kosovo, and Lithuania.
The Netherlands can bank on an extremely one-sided head-to-head record in this fixture, having won eight of the last 10 encounters, including that 3-0 win last month during which the visitors could only muster one shot on target.
Most bookmakers have the visitors priced at odds-on to claim the three points, but SBK have Koeman's troops available at even-money, which I will be taking as the first bet.
While I'm backing the Netherlands to edge what I think will be a very tight contest in Athens, I do like the price on offer for Greece's Giorgos Masouras to find the back of the net at 9/2 with bet365.
Only Mbappe (6) has scored more Group B goals than the winger who has accumulated five goals in six games, including his country's second in the important 2-0 win away to Ireland last Friday.
This followed a goal in Olympiakos' 2-2 draw against Backa Topola; his fifth goal for his club in his last eight games in all competitions.
