Germany vs. England Predictions: Back Kane to rack up the attempts in Munich

England face Germany in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday evening looking to bounce back from an underwhelming performance against Hungary at the weekend. Here at BettingOdds.com, we’ve previewed the game and provided you with two bets that we think represent good value for the game from Munich.
These two long standing rivals will face off in the Allianz Arena, both in search of their first Nations League victory. Germany will have been disappointed to come away with only a point against a heavily rotated Italian XI on Saturday, in a game which finished 1-1 thanks to a Joshua Kimmich equaliser in the 74th minute.
Hansi Flick’s side are now ten games unbeaten after their exit from last summer’s European Championships to England, although punters should be wary with Die Mannschaft only having won two of their 11 Nations League matches since its inaugural running in 2018.
Premier League duo Kai Havertz and Ilkay Gundogan are both expected to be given the nod from the off against the Three Lions. 19 year-old Jamal Musiala may also be handed a start with Timo Werner and Leroy Sane expected to be named as substitutes.
Gareth Southgate handed starts to James Justin and Jarrod Bowen in the 1-0 defeat to Hungary and is expected to make several changes to his side for the visit to Germany. Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, Kalvin Phillips and Reece James are all expected to come in, with England available at around 12/5 with most bookmakers to take all three points
Germany vs England Tips
The first of two bets we like the look of on Tuesday comes via the bet365 Bet Builder feature where we have combined Harry Kane and Kai Havertz to have Over 1.5 shots each in the match at 6/4. This same double is priced at just 4/9 with Paddy Power so we’d certainly be recommending bet365 here.
Let’s start with Harry Kane; the Tottenham and Three Lions talisman is now just four goals behind Wayne Rooney in the all time English scorers list. The 28-year-old managed three shots against Hungary on Saturday and throughout World Cup qualifying he averaged 4.1 shots per game.
Kane scored at Wembley against Germany in the Euro 2020 Round of 16, and since then he has registered at least two shots in nine of his ten competitive Internationals. Last season in the league for Spurs, Kane averaged 3.6 shots per game and we fully expect him to let off two or more on Tuesday.
Paired with Kane, is Germany’s Kai Havertz also to have Over 1.5 shots in the match. Havertz is expected to start the game as the main striker for Hansi Flick’s side and with this in mind, his shot prices with bet365 look way too big with the firm from Stoke going 4/6 for Over 1.5, with the same selection just 1/9 with Betfair.
At the Euros, Germany faced England, France, Hungary and Portugal and across those matches Havertz recorded shot totals of 2,1,4,4. In his last nine league starts for Chelsea, Havertz has averaged 3 shots per game and in last season’s Champions League he averaged 2.9 per game. All things considered here, 6/4 looks a very backable price on this double.
We’ve also picked out something at a larger price at just over 9/1. Again, with bet365 we’ve decided for a small punt on Ilkay Gundogan to have Over 1.5 Shots and Harry Maguire to be shown a card.
Ilkay Gundogan wrote his name into Manchester City folklore on the final day of the season with two goals to give Pep Guardiola’s side the title. The midfielder averaged 2.9 shots per 90 minutes across the most recent league campaign and in World Cup qualifying for his country he cleared this line of Over 1.5 shots in six of his seven starts, managing 12 shots alone in just two games against Liechtenstein.
Harry Maguire was shown a yellow card in three of the five games he featured in the European Championships that took place in 2021. One of those bookings came against Germany and we fancy a repeat here. In the Premier League Maguire was shown seven yellows and a red in just 29 appearances last season, and in the campaign prior to that only one player collected more yellows, after Maguire totted up eleven! If there’s one player we could back to be booked here it’s Maguire and at just over 9/1 we think this double has a little more value in it than the 10% chance of landing the odds imply.
