France vs Germany Tips
France head into Euro 2024 as the second 4/1 favourites behind 3/1 frontrunners England, while hosts Germany follow at 13/2 despite their alarmingly poor form.
It's been a difficult year for the DFB who have lost six times in 10 matches, suffering defeats at the hands of Poland, Colombia, Japan, Belgium, and most recently Turkey and Austria.
Strangely, one of the two countries they have beaten during this wretched run are powerhouses France, with this Les Bleus' only loss in 10 games over the last year (eight of which they've won).
Didier Deschamps, who will take charge of his 150th game, will be gunning to avenge this loss and his side definitely look the pick here at 5/6 with BetMGM, although it's the enhanced price of a France win and both teams to score that I'm favouring at 13/5.
Since replacing Hansi Flick in September, boss Julian Nagelsmann has yet to stamp his mark, winning just once in his opening four games; the joint worst-ever start of any Germany manager. Germany head to France on the back of consecutive defeats and haven't kept a clean sheet in 10 matches, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence when coming up against the in-form Kylian Mbappe and a France side that have won their last six on the spin at home.
Kylian Mbappe hasn't let the on-going saga over his club future affect his performances on the pitch. He bagged a hat-trick last time out in the 6-2 thrashing of Montpellier and a brace in the 2-1 Champions League triumph over Real Sociedad.
In total, he has accumulated 37 goals his season (one more than Harry Kane and nine more than Erling Haaland), which includes three hat-tricks and seven braces for club and country. He's found the back of the net 17 times in his last 15 matches for France, scoring two or more goals in six of those fixtures.
It's a bet I like the look of at 15/2 given both his own superb form and Germany's terrible defensive record of late. As touched upon in the above section, Germany have become allergic to clean sheets and have conceded two or more goals in 11 of their last 18 matches, leaking in four to Japan, and three to each of Turkey, Ukraine, England, and Belgium.
