Football League: 5/1 Treble for the Bank Holiday weekend play-offs

The Football League play-off finals take place over the course of the Bank Holiday weekend with six sides all bidding to end their campaign on a high with promotion to the next tier. Here at BettingOdds.com we’ve given our thoughts ahead of the action and have picked out a treble we like the look of.
Brentford v Swansea - Saturday 3:00pm - Brentford to be promoted - 4/9
Thomas Frank’s Brentford have the chance to finally reach the Premier League on Saturday after they overcame Bournemouth in the semi-finals. The team that stands in the way is Swansea, who Brentford managed to beat in the play-offs last season and will be hoping for a repeat of that success in one of football’s most valuable games.
The Welsh side were relegated from the Premier League in 2018 and have kept things tight this season with 70% of their games featuring under 2.5 goals this campaign. Four of the last eight Championship play-off finals have finished 1-0 and we expect this one to be low scoring, with Brentford just coming out on top.
We’re backing the Bees to lift the trophy and make it to the Premier League in the first leg of this treble, which is priced at 4/9 with bet365. We feel the time has finally come for Brentford to reach the promised land and after winning five of their last six games they come into this match in good form.
Top scorers in the division this season, Brentford’s attack could well be the difference at Wembley. They scored 23 goals more than Swansea this season and in Ivan Toney they have the Championships Golden Boot winner. Toney let off seven attempts on goal against Bournemouth in the play-off final second leg with his side accumulating 3.12xg in the match. It’s sure to be tight but we can see Toney nicking the winner for Brentford.
Blackpool v Lincoln - Sunday 3:00pm - Blackpool to win - 13/10
Neil Critchley’s Blackpool scored six goals over two legs against Oxford United in the semi-finals beating the U’s over two legs with an aggregate score of 6-3. Lincoln tasted a 2-1 defeat in their second-leg against Sunderland, but the 2-0 lead they took into the match was enough to see them through.
Blackpool won their last four league games of the campaign without conceding a solitary goal and after the performances against Oxford, they certainly come into this game as the in-form side. Many say that form counts for nothing in the play-offs but based on the Seasiders’ attacking play over the last month, they should have more than enough ability to cause Lincoln serious problems.
On the flip side the Imps struggled in their final few fixtures of the season and their 2-0 home win over Sunderland in the play-offs is their only victory in their last seven matches. Lincoln have conceded two or more goals in four of their last seven, and their defence will have to be at it’s best to keep out Jerry Yates who has 21 league goals to his name. At the current prices we’re willing to have Blackpool onside to win in 90 minutes, on offer at 13/10.
Morecambe v Newport - Monday 3:00pm - Morecambe to be promoted
The Shrimps have been one of the stand out stories in the Football League this season after being the biggest price of any team to win the league at 200/1. A remarkable run of form resulted in a fourth place finish, with an each-way pay-out for punters with certain firms offering four places.
Newport County scored in the 120th minute to book their place at Wembley after a superb comeback against Forest Green in a game that ended 4-3. Newport have not been great away from Rodney Parade this season and only rank tenth in the league when just looking at away results.
Derek Adams has worked wonders in the North-West this season and we think are touting his side to lift the trophy and gain promotion to League One. Morecambe have won six of their last eight matches, scoring at least two goals in all six of those victories.
To conclude, that’s a treble consisting of Brentford to be promoted, Blackpool to win in 90 minutes and Morecambe to be promoted. 5/1 should be available from most firms and if you are having a bet over the bank-holiday, please do so responsibly.
