Wednesday Acca Tips
Fresh from levelling the great Thierry Henry in France's all time leading goalscorer leaderboard, Olivier Giroud will be bouncing into this group stage finale for the world champions France. Since Karim Benzema was ruled out, Didier Deschamps has turned to his loyal stalwart Giroud to lead the line for the star studded French outfit.
Perennially underrated throughout his career, Giroud has made a reputation on bringing the best out of his teammates and he certainly does that on the international stage, doing the donkey work to allow more talented teammates such as Mbappe, Griezmann and Dembele to shine. However, as can be seen by his brilliant goalscoring record for Les Bleus, Giroud is no stragner to hitting the back of the net.
He can become the outright leading goalscorer against a toothless Tunisia side and etch his name into history once again. His aerial prowess and clever positioning could prove too much for a Tunisian defence that will undoubtedly be preoccupied by Mbappe's brilliance, 6/4 looks a good price for the former Chelsea and Arsenal striker Giroud to bag himself a landmark goal.
Denmark haven't exactly lit this tournament alight and were no match for the class of France, and mainly Mbappe and Griezmann last time out. Their opponents today certainly do not possess players of similar calibre to the defending champions and the Danes should be too strong for a spirited but limited Australian outfit.
The Aussies sparked wild celebrations back home last time out when beating Tunisia, but the Tunisians haven't looked anything special and that win was built more on effort than ability. Denmark are a well organised side and have players who are elite at keeping the ball in midfield, no one more so than Christian Eriksen.
The Danes should have more than enough to breach the Australian defence and when they do, at 11/8 we fancy them to shut up shop.
Denmark to win to nil looks the play in this one as they are just 1/2 in the outrght market looks to be backing them to win to nil. At generous odds of 11/8 with Boylesports we can see this one landing and Denmark advancing to the round of sixteen with minimal fuss
Argentina started the tournament in the worst possible fashion with a loss that shocked the footballing world. Saudi Arabia were as big as 33/1 to beat the then World Cup second favourites in matchday 1, but beat them they did and Argentina have been on the backfoot ever since. They do however possess a card up their sleeve every other nation would pay fortunes for; Lionel Messi.
Their latest iconic number 10, who is certainly in the greatest of all time conversation, scored the crucial goal in their 2-0 win over Mexico last time out and looks well and truly back to his best. With Enzo Fernandez and Lisandro Martinez now starting (both were surprisingly benched in matchday 1) Argentina look a much more threatening side and can see off Poland. With all teams in with a shot in this group the Poles could get desperate as the game progresses, which will play into Argentina's hands
The Argentinian squad is stacked with attacking talent and it is only a matter of time until they click fully in this World Cup. We think this could be the game they right the wrong of matchday 1 and remind everyone why they were considered such strong World Cup contenders pre-tournament. Back them -1 on the handicap with BoyleSports at 7/5 to complete the treble.
