Football Accumulator Tips: Cards Double Makes Appeal at Carrow Road

After a rather quiet couple of weeks it feels as though punters are spoilt for choice with the amount of live televised games this week. Wednesday evening provides four Premier League matches, all of which can be seen live on BT Sport.
We’ve asked our man @AnthonyEadson to provide us with his best bet builder tips for the evenings action. Two plays have caught his eye which both come from Carrow Road where Norwich host Crystal Palace. At the time of writing the double pays a best price of 33/1 with William Hill.
First up, I feel we have one of the better referees in charge of this game when it comes to dishing out the cards. Paul Tierney takes the whistle and of the 19 referees in the Premier League last season, the 41 year-old ranked first for yellow cards with the highest average of 3.90 per game. This campaign Tierney has maintained that level of cautions, showing 3.94 per game over his 17 matches so far in 2021/2022.
I’ve taken a lean towards two players being carded in this match with the first of those being Max Aarons for Dean Smith’s side. No player for Norwich has been shown more yellow cards so far this season than the England U21 right-back with five in 21 appearances.
Aarons is averaging 2.2 tackles per game as well as 0.7 fouls per outing this season and he may struggle against his direct opponent on Wednesday. I’m hoping that Wilfried Zaha should come back into the starting lineup on the left of a front-three for Palace here after returning from AFCON. No player has drawn more fouls per game than Zaha this season in the division with 3 per game on average, and with Aarons’ disciplinary record in mind I’m happy to include him in this small stakes double.
The second half of this double is Crystal Palace’s Joel Ward to be carded in the match. Available at 11/2 as a single with William Hill, this looks a decent price considering he’s already got six cautions to his name in 21 league appearances this season.
No player has picked up more for Crystal Palace this season than Joel Ward and he’s another who may face a tricky direct opponent in this match. Milot Rashica will likely pose a threat for the hosts down the left flank with Ward tasked with keeping the Kosovan at bay. Rashica is Norwich’s most fouled player since their return to the Premier League, drawing an average of 1.5 per game which hopefully bodes well for Ward picking up a card off Paul Tierney.
I do feel we are getting a good price here at 33/1 with Hills. Both bet365 (20/1) and Betfair (19/1) have this double considerably shorter and with last season’s top ranked referee for yellows in charge, this could have more of a chance than the 2.9% implied probability of 33/1.
Please gamble responsibly.
