The first two selections in our Acca come from Vienna where Austria host France. It’s been a disappointing start to the Nations League campaign for the current World Champions. Didier Deschamps' side were beaten 2-1 by Denmark in the opening round of fixtures, before being held to a 1-1 draw with Croatia on Monday. Despite two poor results, we are siding with the French to get their first win against Austria on Friday.
A handful of superstars including, Karim Benzema, Kylian Mbappe, Antonie Griezmann, N’Golo Kane and Hugo Lloris are all expected to return to the starting line-up for the visitors and we think there could be quite a shift in their price to win the game once the teams are announced an hour before kick-off. Prior to the defeat to Denmark, France had not lost a competitive match in 90 minutes since all the way back in 2019 against Turkey and they have the quality to get back to winning ways against Austria on Friday.
As well as backing the visitors to take all three points, we will also be including Karim Benzema, to score in this game. The five-time Champions League winner has had a remarkable season netting 52 goals in 56 matches and is the favourite to score. At 6/4 to find the net anytime, Benzema makes appeal in comparison to his teammate Kylian Mbappe who is priced at 11/10 to score.
Next up it’s off to the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen where Denmark take on Croatia. Kasper Hjulmand’s side currently sit top of League A Group 1 after excellent victories over France and Austria, both of which came via a 2-1 scoreline. Changes are expected here from the Danes with Christian Eriksen set to be rested after playing the full 90 minutes in both group games so far, however, we still believe the hosts have enough to come away with the three points here.
Croatia were turned over 3-0 by Austria last week in their Nations League opener and despite a 1-1 draw with France last time out, they look far from the side who reached the World Cup final four years ago. It’s been a good few years for Denmark who made it to the semi-finals of last summer’s European Championships. Momentum is with Hjulmand’s men and we expect them to make it three from three on Friday.
We’ve also picked out a scorer we fancy to find the net in the Danish capital, in the form of Andreas Cornelius. The former Atalanta and Parma forward now plays his club football over in Turkey where his Trabzonspor lifted the Super Liga title in the season just gone. Cornelius finished as the clubs top scorer in the league finding the net 15 times at an average of 0.56 goals per 90 minutes across the 2021/2022 league campaign. The 29-year-old came off the bench with half an hour left to play against France last week and managed to bag himself a brace and give his side fantastic victory in Paris. Combining all four of these selections currently pays 13/1 with bet365, best of luck to anyone following.
