Euro Top Scorer Betting: Who are the contenders for the Golden Boot?

We’re now reaching the business end of the Euros, with the quarter-finals of the competition approaching this weekend. England’s historic win over Germany has seen them shorten to 2/1 in the Euro 2021 betting market, but who is favourite to clinch the coveted Golden Boot award?
Cristiano Ronaldo currently leads the way with five goals to his name, but with Portugal crashing out of the tournament it blows the door right open for a number of players to leapfrog the Juventus forward.
Czech Republic front man Patrik Schick has been one of the standout players at Euro 2021 and currently has four goals to his name, opening his account with that incredible long-range strike against Scotland in the group stages. The Bayer Leverkusen man is 9/2 in the Euro top scorer betting, and will be keen to build on his impressive tally with another goal against Denmark this weekend.
Romelu Lukaku is a 6/1 shot in the market as things stand. The Belgium striker, who has scored three times at Euro 2021, faces a stern test against a robust Italy outfit in the quarter-finals this Friday, but should Belgium progress and Big Rom bag himself a goal, it would see him close the gap on Ronaldo to a single goal and move level with Schick (for at least 24 hours).
Raheem Sterling is, like Lukaku, also on three goals so far. The Manchester City winger has been England’s brightest spark in front of goal and bagged himself another in the emphatic victory over Germany on Tuesday evening. He’s currently 7/1 to win the Golden Boot and I think this could be where the value lies in the market, bias aside.
England have a favourable route to the final and are playing with so much confidence at the moment, so much so that you’d expect them to beat Ukraine and Denmark/Czech Republic (again) in the coming week. Easier said than done, of course, and it would be typical of the Three Lions to bow out to one of those teams having just taught Germany a footballing lesson.
If all goes to plan, though, I’d fancy Sterling to notch two or three more goals along the way, making the 7/1 on offer an attractive proposition. Lukaku will have his work cut out against Italy and could feasibly drop out of the tournament this weekend, while Schick’s price is a little short for my liking.
