England Women vs. Japan Women Betting Tips: Two bets for Friday night clash
European Champions England return to action on Friday night when they face Japan at the Pinatar Arena in Spain, in a game that can be viewed live on ITV4 at 7pm...
England Women vs Japan Women Tips
Since conquering the continent back in the summer, the Lionesses have recorded wins over Austria, Luxembourg, and impressively the USA, however in their last clash they were surprisingly held to a goalless draw by the Czech Republic.
England will therefore be eager to get back to winning ways against Japan, with Sarina Wiegman’s side installed as the 8/15 favourites to secure the victory.
The 4/1 priced visitors will pose a threat though given that they are currently unbeaten in a year (in 90 minutes), and have won six of their last seven matches.
Alternatively a draw can be found at 5/2.
England’s record under Sarina Wiegman is unbelievable. The elite Dutch manager has: taken charge of 24 matches, is yet to suffer a single defeat, has seen her side score a whopping 120 goals, won the Euros, and beaten the US. Superb stuff.
England are the bookies' favourites for this one and I expect them to come away with the win, despite the absence of a couple of key players such as Lucy Bronze and Alex Greenwood. Wiegman’s squad boasts an impressive strength in depth and with a number of fringe players eager to showcase their credentials, a seventh win out of seven outside of the UK under Wiegman looks probable.
I do think Japan will cause the Lionesses problems though. They are a technical side who aren’t accustomed to losing of late, having carved out their own seven game unbeaten run, which is extended to 13 games if excluding penalty shoot outs. Japan have the form and weapons to trouble England, but ultimately I see the European champs claiming the win with both teams finding the net, which is available at 11/4 with Paddy Power.
The recently crowned BBC Women's Footballer of the Year, Beth Mead, is the focus of our second tip.
The England and Arsenal star is now one goal off hitting 30 for her country, a tally I’m backing the striker to reach on Friday night at 15/8 in the anytime goalscorer market, courtesy of Paddy Power.
Mead, who scored in the 3-0 win over Japan in 2019, has excelled more than any player under the tutorship of Wiegman: she's been directly involved in a hefty 37 goals in just 23 appearances, in the process scoring 21 goals.
Mead can also be backed at 5/1 to open the scoring and 2.35/1 to find the back of the net in an England win, both with Paddy Power.
