England Women vs. Colombia Women Betting Tips: Back Daly to score in quarter-final clash

We are down to the last eight at the Women's World Cup. Here at bettingodds.com we've previewed the action between England and Colombia and provided you with our two best bets for the game.
The Lionesses were quite fortunate to advance to the quarter-finals. Their opponents in the last round were Nigeria, a side that looked as though they had the beating of England at certain points in the match.
The situation worsened when Lauren James received a red card for a stamp, with her now receiving a further suspension and potentially only returning for the final. Despite the setback, England held on and clinched victory through a penalty shootout, with Chloe Kelly proving to be a pivotal player during crucial moments.
Colombia achieved a historic milestone, reaching their inaugural quarter-finals by defeating Jamaica 1-0, with Catalina Usme scoring the decisive goal. These two teams had a prior encounter in 2015, concluding in a 2-1 victory for England.
Facing off once more, Sarina Weigman’s girls find themselves in a challenging position against a determined Colombia side that will likely adopt an aggressive approach from the start. The match has the potential to become another closely contested battle. If England can replicate their performance from the China game, they could make their journey smoother.
England vs Colombia Tips
England remain the favourites to go on and lift the trophy priced at 5/2 with most betting sites. We believe they can see off this Colombia team, with the Lionesses still to concede a goal from open play this tournament.
After the ordeal of coming through the last round on penalties and surviving with ten after Lauren James’ red card, confidence should be high for this strong bunch and as long as nerves don’t get the better of them, they can make it to the final-four.
As well as backing England to win the game in 90 minutes, we’ll also be adding Alessia Russo to score anytime to our bet builder. This takes us up to a very backable 11/4 with bet365, compared to just 7/4 over at Betfair.
Only Thembi Kgatiana has recorded more shots on target at the tournament than Alessia Russo, who has eight to her name. Russo has only scored once so far, but has been getting into great positions. With 14 shots so far at the World Cup from Russo, the intent is clearly there and we think her look will change with a goal or two on Saturday.
We’ll also be having a small punt on Rachel Daly to score anytime in the match. Paddy Power and Betfair have Daly priced at just 7/4 to find the net, giving plenty of appeal to the 19/5 on show with William Hill.
Daly was the Women’s Super League top scorer last season with 22 for Aston Villa. She only has one so far at the World Cup but has registered five shots on target across the four matches she has played in. She may be deployed as an attacking wing-back but Daly has been getting into the final third on plenty of occasions. This one is a bit of a price-play, but at a generous 19/5 she looks worth taking a chance on.
