England vs. South Africa 1st T20 Tips: Back England to come out firing in Bristol
There is no let up for England's white ball squad. After losing the T20 series and ODI series 2-1 to India, they drew 1-1 against South Africa in the ODI's after a rain abandonment in the deciding match. Can Jos Buttler's men drag something out of this disappointing summer and try to gain a series win in the three match T20 internationals - the first of which is being held in Bristol on Wednesday.
Here at BettingOdds.com, we're gonna be with you every step of the way as your home of cricket and our man Adam Roberts is on hand yet again to pick out two bets for your attention.
England vs. South Africa 1st T20 Tips
Things are most certainly not going to plan for Jos Buttler in his role as white ball captain, having won just three of their last nine limited overs matches. It is also the first time since 2014 that England have failed to win a ODI series at home in an English summer. Now they take on South Africa in a three match T20I series in a last attempt to regain some sort of form before they leave for Australia and the T20 World Cup in October.
Joe Root and Ben Stokes have been rested for this series with the likes of Harry Brook, Richard Gleeson, Chris Jordan and Dawid Malan joining the rest of the ODI squad.
For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada is back after being rested for the one-dayers and will lead the bowling line up under stand in Captain David Miller.
England squad: Jos Buttler (c, wk), Moeen Ali, Jonathan Bairstow, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Richard Gleeson, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, David Willey
South Africa squad: David Miller (c), Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock (wk), Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Wayne Parnell, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Rilee Rossouw, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs, Rassie van der Dussen
First up, we're taking England to win this opener. I don't like the odds of 8/13 on offer for the straight win, so I've boosted it with England to score the most 4's and 6's in the innings, which brings us up to odds of 11/10. England will be desperate to win a home series this summer and this is their last chance. Last time out England destroyed the Proteas 3-0 in the T20's and South Africa certainly look stronger in a 50 ball format. England possess far more artillery with the bat and you would think that if they do win, they will score more boundaries too.
Secondly, I've taken Kagiso Rabada to top the South African bowling analysis. The 27-year-old is the leading wicket taker for the Proteas in this format amongst the current side and averages 26.09 in T20s with the ball. He has a superb IPL record, finishing 2nd in wickets in 2019 and top with 30 in 2020 so clearly shines in the shortest format of the game. He has been boosted to 3/1 at bet365 to finish with most wickets in Bristol here today.
