England Women vs. Australia Women Betting Tips: Back Lionesses to beat World Cup co-hosts

Fresh from winning the inaugural Women's Finalissima against Brazil, the Lionesses now bid to back that terrific result up with a win against the 2023 World Cup co-hosts Australia at the Brentford Community Stadium on Tuesday night (ITV 4, 7.45pm).

Below we bring you the match preview and two betting angles.

The Lionesses held their nerve on penalties to win the Finalissima last week and in turn extended their stunning unbeaten run under Sarina Wiegman to 30 matches.

Along the way they've beaten the USA, Germany, and Spain; lifting the European Championship trophy and the Arnold Clark Cup.

On Tuesday they continue their build-up to this summer's Women's World Cup - for which they are the 7/2 second favourites - with an intriguing clash at home to Australia who will co-host the tournament alongside neighbours New Zealand.

The Matildas had been enjoying a cracking run themselves in the form of seven successive wins including a 3-2 victory over Spain. However, last week that streak came to an abrupt end after they were defeated 1-0 by Scotland in London.

England head into this one as the hot 1/4 favourites for the win, but they can't afford to underestimate a talented Australian side who have a certain Sam Kerr in their ranks.

The visitors can be backed at 9/1 to bring an end to Wiegman's undefeated run, while a draw can be backed at 4/1.

England showcased their fighting spirit and mental resilience in the penalty shoot-out win over Brazil.

Their confidence and game intelligence continue to grow under Wiegman and there's a real feeling that they can conjure up something special for the second successive summer.

They will, however, be tested by Australia this week. Yet I still fancy the hosts to get the job done and enhance their incredible unbeaten streak to 31 matches.

There's little value to be had at 1/4 in the outright market, however I like the look of the 19/10 (William Hill) on offer for Wiegman's side to win and for both teams to score, which has landed in two of their last three matches.

England have scored a whopping 138 goals in just 30 games, and while they've conceded just 10 goals during that time, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last three games against Italy, Belgium, and Brazil. 

With the superb Kerr in town, the visitors will pose a real attacking threat.

First up, I'm after Alessia Russo to score anytime at 6/5. The striker is in great form, scoring five goals in her last six matches for Man Utd, including a hat-trick against Leicester. She has also accumulated eight goals in her previous 15 matches for England and will look to boost her chances of starting at the World Cup by putting on an impressive performance on Tuesday.

Australia skipper Sam Kerr (5/2 to score) averages a goal every other game for her country - 62 goals in 118 games - and will be gunning to score in the country where she's currently employed at club level with Chelsea, where she's scored 82 goals in 101 games.

The competitive juices will be running high in this fixture, with at least one card for each team boosting this Bet Builder to 14/1. England received two yellows in their victory over Brazil, while an Australia player has been booked in each of their last three games.
