Denmark v Finland Tips: Bank on dominant Danes to get off to winning start

Denmark will be looking to kick off their Euro campaign with three points as they face Finland in the tea time kick off Saturday evening.
Whilst it’s been nearly 30 years since their international success in 1992, the Danes could be the dark horses heading into this tournament as they should look to rival Belgium for top Spot in group B. Recent form suggests they are more than capable – they’ve only suffered one defeat in their last 12 games whilst winning nine, and more impressively keeping nine clean sheets. It’s easy to understand why competition debutants Finland are as long as 8/1 here, with Denmark the strong favourites at 2/5.
Finland are winless in their last seven games, dating back all the way to November 2020 and qualification from this group would definitely come as a surprise to most. The last five head-to-heads between these two sides has seen the Danes victorious in four with the other ending all square.
It’s hard to go against the favourites here but I’ve got three tips which look to provide some value in this group B opener.
Denmark v Finland Tips
With the 2/5 for a straight Danish win not the most appealing of prices, backing them to win to nil give us a much more attractive price, just shy of even money.
I’ve already mentioned how impressive Denmark have been at the back – eight out of their last nine wins have seen this bet land and I fancy it again vs what looks a poor Finland side. They lost to nil in their last outing prior to the Euros last Friday vs Estonia, a game where they only managed one shot on target in the full 90 minutes.
With them up against much tougher opposition here, I struggle to see a way past this stubborn Danish back line so I am happy in backing the favourites to win with without response as my main play for this game.
Along similar lines to my first selection, this 4/1 poke is available under Betfair's #OddsOnThat featured section. Maybe for the braver punters, but I can’t see Finland having much joy here and if it is as one sided in favour of the Danes a I believe it could be, this 4/1 shot should give us a decent run for our money.
Hojbjerg was booked in 23% of his Premier League games this season so I am hoping he carries this into the Euros. A very passionate player which with heavy defensive responsibilities tends to see the Spurs man in the book. The 9/2 alone Implies an 18% chance of winning so a smidgen of value already, and with this being the first group game, I expect both teams to be well up for it.
To complete the longshot, I’m adding an Eriksen assist. If Denmark do well this man will undoubtedly have a part to play. Despite not being in the best form domestically , he tends to go up the gears for his county and be the star man. I fancy the Danes to score a couple here and with Eriksen being the main playmaker he should get the chances to create for his teammates.
