Day of Reckoning Preview: Fights, Odds, Date, Start Time and How To Watch Saudi Arabia Boxing Card
A stacked boxing card has been announced for before the close of the year, with a number of high-profile names making this an unmissable night for fans of the sport.
Continue reading to find out exactly when and where the event is taking place, which fighters are scheduled to feature and what the early odds are for each of the notable bouts.
When Is It?
This lucrative night of boxing has been pencilled in for 23rd December 2023 - a date originally held for an undisputed fight between the two heavyweight champions Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. With that eagerly anticipated matchup now set for the first quarter of 2024, the venue has been held and the promise of an exciting packed card of fights has been kept.
Where Is It?
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is rapidly becoming the new hub for boxing, with Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou the latest showpiece event taking place there. Fury and Usyk will throw down in the Middle East in February next year, but before then, this loaded fight card will be Riyadh's latest foray.
"Day of Reckoning" and its unprecedented line-up will be hosted at the Kingdom Arena, a 26,000 capacity venue which has housed Fury vs Ngannou and is also set to accommodate the unification title fight between Fury and Usyk.
Who Is Fighting On the Card?
Although Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder were initially touted to fight one another on this card, that is no longer the case. Both remain on the card, but now have different opponents, suggesting there may be a slow build towards their mammoth heavyweight battle with one another. AJ will face Otto Wallin, a fighter who contested with Tyson Fury back in 2019, while Wilder will take on former heavyweight titleholder Joseph Parker.
On the undercard, 2022's Fighter of the Year Dmitry Bivol will make his only appearance of 2023 with a defence of the WBA light heavyweight title against Manchester-born contender Lyndon Arthur. Heavyweights Daniel Dubois and Jarrell Miller are set to face off, as are fellow big men Frank Sanchez and Junior Fa, plus IBF #1 contender Filip Hrgovic who is fighting Mark De Mori in another heavyweight firefight.
As mentioned previously, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk's undisputed heavyweight title fight was set to be the main event of this exciting card,. However, after a tough night for Fury against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, the bout was moved to 17th February.
Where Can I Watch It?
At the moment, broadcast information is not available. However, considering how this promotion involves both Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, whose affiliations lay with DAZN, and Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions, who has an active deal with Sky Sports, we could have a co-promotion on display.
What Are the Odds?
Anthony Joshua is the headline event and will enter the ring as favourite for his contest at 2/7. Otto Wallin, AJ's latest opponent who beat Murat Gassiev by split decision in September, represents a 3/1 shot.
Deontay Wilder, the next biggest name on the card, is heavily fancied at 1/5 to get the job done over Joseph Parker, who can be backed at 9/2 to cause an upset in Riyadh.
Elsewhere, world champion Dmitry Bivol is a 1/16 frontrunner to win his bout with Brit Lyndon Arthur on the undercard. Daniel Dubois, who most recently fought heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in a controversial win for the Ukrainian, is another odds-on selection to be crowned victorious in Saudi Arabia.
