Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest Prediction
Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest Preview
Crystal Palace have performed as many would have predicted with Oliver Glasner’s side sitting 12th in the table with 45 points from 34 outings.
Their Premier League season is almost complete, while the Eagles have an FA Cup final showdown with Manchester City in two weeks' time, meaning they could be set for a magical ending to their season.
Keeping key players fit will be key as the games progress as one eye will be on that clash at Wembley. Palace will want to end the season well, as momentum is a wonderful thing in football.
The race for a top-five finish is tense. Nottingham Forest have been right up there all season in what has been a tremendous campaign for all involved at the City Ground.
That said, there's work to be done after three defeats in four have seen the club slip to 6th place. With just two points separating them from 2nd-placed Newcastle, every point is vital.
Nuno’s side now face a decisive run-in against Leicester, West Ham, and Chelsea at home on the final day - and they'll back themselves to get results against all three.
Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest Betting Tips
I can understand why Palace are slight favourites, although I’m not quite sure how enthusiastic they’ll be heading into this encounter.
The hosts have managed just five wins from 17 home games this season, with two of those coming against already relegated sides. Offensively, they’ve leaned heavily on Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has scored 14 of their 43 goals this campaign.
Forest come into this one with 15 more points than their opponents but have hit a rough patch, losing three of their last four in the Premier League. Still, with the draw also returning a profit, backing Nottingham Forest +0.25 Asian Handicap seems a sensible angle to consider.
Despite six teams getting the better of Forest on their travels this season - a notable step up from 11 away defeats in 2023/24 - they’ve had the upper hand in this fixture. Palace haven’t beaten Forest since the latter's Premier League return, with the five meetings since producing two 1-0 Forest wins and three draws.
This one’s set to be a tight affair; the two sides have racked up 23 clean sheets between them, and both sit in the bottom four for average possession.
Forest remain a real threat on the counter, with the blistering pace of Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi, the creativity of Morgan Gibbs-White, and the clinical finishing of Chris Wood. The latter has been outstanding, scoring 19 Premier League goals, placing him fourth in the scoring charts.
With the Champions League race heating up, I’m backing the visitors to come away with a positive result.
Ryan Yates is Forest through and through. He’s a man who’ll take a yellow card all day if needed.
Across the season, Yates has averaged 2.48 fouls committed and an impressive 0.44 yellow cards per 90. An important clash surely means he’ll go over the edge and clatter someone or at least make a tactical foul. He’s an obvious selection in the card market, given the numbers.
The incentive is for Forest to get something from this fixture. I’m backing them to register at least 10 shots across 90 minutes.
Four sides from 17 have failed to hit a double-figure shot tally at Selhurst Park this term, two being Leicester and Southampton.
Forest have cleared this line in 12 of 17 away days. They’re averaging 12.18 shots away from home this term. They recorded 20 in the reverse fixture and 16 at this venue last season, where Yates came on and received a caution.
