The fourth and final Premier League match of the evening is due to kick-off shortly as Chelsea look to brush off their recent poor spell when they lock horns with basement club Southampton at Stamford Bridge, live at 8.15pm on TNT Sports 1.

The out-of-sorts Blues have lost their last three games in all competitions and four of the last five but have an ideal opportunity to bounce back on home soil against a struggling Saints side that have lost eight of their nine league games under Ivan Juric.

Chelsea’s season has taken a sharp downturn, with just two wins in their last 10 Premier League games seeing them tumble from title contention to seventh place. Their struggles have extended beyond the league, too, as they were recently dumped out of the FA Cup.

However, home form remains a bright spot, with just one defeat in their last 17 at Stamford Bridge, and they’ll see this as the perfect opportunity to get back on track against a Southampton side seemingly doomed for relegation.

The Saints have endured a torrid campaign, managing just two wins all season while suffering a staggering 21 defeats in 26 league games. Life under Ivan Juric, who replaced Russell Martin, has been grim with just three points collected from a possible 24 since his appointment making an upset pretty remote.

When these sides met at St Mary’s in December, Chelsea ran out 5-1 winners, and despite their recent struggles, another comfortable victory could be on the cards tonight.

That said, while Southampton have now lost eight straight home games, their away form has been slightly more respectable. They’ve scored six goals in their last four road trips and even picked up a rare win at Ipswich last time out.

Chelsea are heavy 1/6 favourites, but with no clean sheet in their last nine league matches, their defence looks vulnerable. While the Saints may struggle to take points, they could still find the net in an eventual defeat at 11/9 with 7Bet.

Lesley Ugochukwu is unavailable for Southampton as he is on loan from Chelsea, paving the way for Flynn Downes to return to midfield.

The 26-year-old was instrumental in Southampton’s promotion push but has struggled in the Premier League this season. His attitude during the January transfer window was blasted by his manager, but the two have since patched things up, and he is expected to start in Ugochukwu’s absence.

Downes looks an appealing price at 1/1 to be carded given his disciplinary record this season, having picked up nine yellow cards, a whopping five of which have come in his last seven games.
